Key Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with licensed design professionals assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of public and private development projects, including commercial, industrial, residential, energy, water/waste water and community projects throughout the Midwest.
- Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of service sectors including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Environmental, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, etc.
- Perform and check various design calculations and performing various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package.
- Preparing front end feasibility documents, due diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Practical experience in design and plan preparation of site development projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related engineering field
- EI certification in the state of Ohio, with the ability to obtain PE or PLA certification within 6 to 12 months.
- Experience with researching and applying various agency design standards to civil engineering projects to successfully achieve approvals.
- Ability to apply guidelines and specifications. (i.e., City of Columbus and surrounding counties, ODOT, and etc.)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading and pipe networks as well as plan set preparation required.
- Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is preferred.
- Roadway design and survey experience are a plus.
- Utility design or utility field inspection experience a plus.
- The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and coordinating with review agencies.
