Job Description
AECOM Is seeking a Control Room Trainer in Richmond, VA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a flexible schedule (relates to a 24/7/365 operation)
- Serve as Regional TOC Subject Matter Expert Coordination with TOC statewide and regional training team for integrated VDOT training program (materials, records, certification, training strategies, etc.)
- Coordinate with TOC management to ensure Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) comprehension and focus operational training needs based on performance and operations priorities Implement the regional training program of all TOC staff in both the initial and annual certifications and recertifications
- Lead the training and evaluation of staff to address performance deficiencies, and assist the TOC Manager in developing training plans to enhance the skills of personnel Develop and implement recurrent / refresher training of regional TOC staff
- Identify and provide acute training for individual performance needs
- Provide reports and updates of employee training status to the TOC Manager
- Adhere to training protocols and maintain up-to-date certifications
- Maintain/oversee readiness of resources for training delivery
- Assist in the development of TOC SOP’s and work instructions
- Support the TOC staff with ongoing skills development
- Support and certify core competencies of the TOC Trainee
- Perform Shift Supervisor responsibilities as needed (i.e., shift coverage, staff augmentation)
- Serve as a delegate to the TOC Manager Support meetings, exercises, and reviews as assigned
- Other ad-hoc activities as assigned by the regional management team
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- HS/GED Equivalent + 2 or more years prior experience as Traffic Monitoring Operator or other relevant experience
- Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully participate in the program’s mandatory random drug screening process
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time monitoring Intelligent Transportation Systems such CCTV camera displays, meters, law enforcement radio broadcasts, answering/responding to calls and communicating to other staff or partner agencies.
- Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- :Associate degree related to incident management or practical experience in similar role 3+ years of experience as a Traffic Control Room Operator or in Civil Engineering or other Traffic Management related experience
- 4+ years employed in the Virginia Transportation Operations Center Program Experience in training, mentoring, and evaluating TOC Operators
- Knowledge of adult learning concepts and experience with adult training delivery
- Experience in training related to traffic incident management or emergency services
- Working knowledge of AECOM TOC SOP’s and related TOC HR policies Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Proficient use of computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and audio/visual equipment Proficient use of VDOT TOC operations systems (ATMS, VaTraffic, etc.)
- TOMC operator certifications for levels 1 and 2, Lead and Shift Leader TOC Statewide Training Program (Virginia), Supervisor level certification) ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 TRIP Training for TOC (for applicable regions) Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) Security Awareness Training (for co-located TOCs)
