The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a critical leadership role responsible for guiding the company's financial strategy and execution. This individual will spearhead the development and refinement of our budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, ensuring they are robust, accurate, and aligned with our overarching business objectives. By partnering closely with executive leadership and department heads, the Director will provide crucial financial insights, identify key performance drivers, and proactively flag potential risks and opportunities. This role demands a strategic mindset, a keen analytical ability, and the capacity to translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations that fuel informed decision-making and drive profitable growth.
This position also entails leading and mentoring a high-performing FP&A team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and analytical rigor. The Director will oversee the preparation of detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors, offering clear variance analysis and strategic commentary. A significant aspect of the role involves acting as a trusted financial business partner to various functional areas, equipping them with the financial intelligence needed to optimize operations, evaluate new ventures, and achieve their respective goals. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in financial modeling, a deep understanding of business operations, and exceptional communication skills, enabling them to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels and champion financial best practices across the organization.

What You Do:
Financial Planning & Strategy:
- Lead the annual budgeting and long-range strategic planning processes, working collaboratively with department heads to develop comprehensive financial plans that align with company goals.
- Develop and maintain dynamic financial models to forecast future performance, assess business opportunities, and evaluate financial risks.
- Provide strategic financial counsel to the executive team and business unit leaders on new initiatives, investments, and business performance.
Forecasting & Reporting:
- Manage the company's monthly financial forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, including monthly and quarterly variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Produce and actively manage the company cash forecast.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track business performance and provide actionable insights.
Business Partnering & Analysis:
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to functional leaders (e.g., Growth, Operations) by providing financial insights, challenging assumptions, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Conduct deep-dive financial analysis on key business drivers, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of FP&A professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the FP&A team, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial planning and reporting activities.
- Evaluate and implement new FP&A tools and systems to automate processes and improve analytical capabilities.
General:
- Demonstrate sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion in all aspects of your responsibilities.
- If working remotely, good/reliable internet connection and ability to work productively is required.
- Occasional travel may be required (0-20%).
Desired Skills And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Minimum 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting or finance required
- Experience within the engineering or consulting industry a plus.
- Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP.
- Ability to demonstrate experience managing successfully within a matrixed/enterprise business model
- Ability to demonstrate experience managing at the senior leadership level (must have led and developed other leaders)
- CPA or M.B.A. a plus
- Experience with Power BI tools, Adaptive, and other accounting software preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, analytical and communication skills
- Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Salary: $180,000 - $240,000
