Key Duties And Responsibilities

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done.  NH Hotels & Resorts  employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues.   Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Creating 100% guest satisfaction by providing the NH Hotels & Resorts experience through performance that demonstrates fulfilment of our service standards, genuine hospitality, and exceeding guest expectation
  • To serve our guests in accordance with NH Hotels & Resorts standards of food and beverage quality, presentation and sanitation, in a gracious and professional manner.
  • To display the best of hospitality and professionalism with guests.
  • To take pride in all facets of service, quality, appearance and cleanliness, in yourself and your area of responsibility.
  • To understand and adhere to Beverage Standard Operating Procedures and to always be looking to recommend improvements to those procedures.
  • Conduct stock take at the beginning and end of shift. Any variances should be reported to management.
  • To professionally set up bar at the start of opening, including liquor, icing, glassware, juices and garnishes.
  • To process drink orders in proper calling order, to check for correct number of drinks and manage billing quickly and efficiently.
  • To make all cocktails in accordance with NH Hotels & Resorts standard beverage manual, using full standard measures.
  • To manage security in the work area, and at no time to leave the bar area unless properly relieved by a colleague.
  • Clean-up - mopping floors, removal of cans and bottles, general cleaning of rails and counters, removal of melting ice in bins.
  • Complete bar opening checklist and ensure that the restaurant is prepared for opening.
  • Communicating to the team of the beverage specials.
  • Observe customers as they enter the restaurant and ensure they are greeted promptly, properly and in a friendly manner.
  • Monitor and observe guest’s dining experience, ensuring guests are satisfied with the beverages and service.
  • Responding promptly and courteously to any requests
  • Taking beverage orders from guests and servers
  • Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Beverage standard drink recipes
  • Presenting drink menus, making recommendations, and answering questions regarding beverages
  • Up-selling drink specials and food items as directed by management
  • Learning the names of guests and personally recognizing regulars
  • Recording drink orders accurately and immediately key them into Micros POS System
  • Washing and sterilizing glassware and bar tools/utensils
  • Preparing garnishes for all drinks and ensuring freshness, labelling and properly rotating of product.
  • Prepare mis-en place to ensure efficient running of the bar
  • Maintaining bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
  • Receiving and serving food orders to guests seated at the bar
  • Reporting all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to F&B Operations Supervisor.
  • Washing glasses and dishes in the absence of the dishwasher and/or as directed by the manager
  • Ensuring the bar is ready for the next shift including completing all necessary cleaning duties and checking out with a supervisor before leaving
  • Restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • Abiding by legal standards and alcohol training guidelines for alcohol service to guests
  • Giving personal attention, taking personal responsibility, and using teamwork when providing guest service
  • Listening, apologizing with empathy, finding a solution, and following through when resolving guest problems
  • Assuming the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and using good judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction
  • Performing other duties as required by management to provide 100% Guest Satisfaction and genuine hospitality to our guests
  • Help colleagues with any job assignments, and assist with and perform any other related hotel duty that may be assigned.
  • Be environmentally aware and manage waste as per the waste management policy

Qualifications

Hospitality Diploma or Equivalent

+- 2 years expirience
