Summary/Objective:
The Mortgage Quality Assurance Underwriter is responsible for analyzing the documentation, underwriting, and decisioning of all mortgage loans and home equity loans/lines consistent with department guidelines and secondary market standards.
Essential Functions:

- Analyze the underwriting and decisioning of a selection of mortgage loans and home equity loans/lines to validate compliance with DCU and investor guidelines and standards pertaining to the soundness and accuracy
- Analyze a selection of mortgage loans to validate compliance with all applicable mortgage lending Federal and State regulations
- Maintain knowledge of current changes to investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, product changes, the general financial industry, and the real estate market.
- Maintain knowledge of compliance regulations applicable to mortgage and home equity originations, including but not limited to: Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending, Know Before You Owe), Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act - HMDA), and other state and federal laws which may be applicable.
- Maintain database for managing and tracking defects identified in mortgage loan audit
- Reporting of sample and trended audit results to Mortgage Risk Manager
- Remediate defects identified by third party vendor for post funding audits
- Work closely with Mortgage Department personnel to maintain and develop better quality loan files.
- Respond to audit and documentation requests from investor or vendor quality control audits.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of department policy and procedure documents.
- Contribute to department projects and initiatives as an individual and through team cooperation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).
What You’Ll Need
Education And Experience Requirements:
- 3-5 Years mortgage underwriting or related experience
- Knowledge of secondary market guidelines
- BA/BS degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Technical Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- Professional Written and Verbal Communication Skills
