About The Role

As HF Node Supervisor at Babcock, you will lead the on-site delivery of Maintenance Support Services for the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) and play a key role in supporting the implementation and operation of its upgraded counterpart, the Enhanced DHFCS (EDHFCS). This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage a team of technical professionals based onsite in Townsville, ensuring the timely delivery of engineering artefacts and solutions with minimal guidance. You’ll oversee the planning, execution and monitoring of technical activities, applying sound judgement and engineering expertise to solve complex challenges and ensure outcomes are delivered to time, quality and cost.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate technical documentation, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and statutory regulations. Your leadership will extend to coaching and developing your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. You’ll contribute to the evolution of engineering processes, support trade control compliance, and help shape sustainable and innovative solutions that benefit both the organisation and the wider community. This role may involve travel across Australia and overseas, offering a dynamic and impactful opportunity to lead within a mission-critical communications environment.

About You

You are an experienced technical leader with a strong background in engineering and a passion for developing people and delivering results. With approximately six years of relevant experience, you bring a solid understanding of design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques, and you’re confident navigating the complexities of high-frequency communications systems. Your communication skills are excellent, and you’re adept at working collaboratively within teams to achieve shared goals.

To be successful in this position you will bring;

  • Experience within the HF Communications System
  • Be able to work site based in Townsville, QLD
  • Ability to lead a small team
  • Vocational/Tertiary qualification within the technical space would be ideal
  • Be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines
