Orthodontic Dental Assistant

 The primary role of the Orthodontic Dental Assistant is to assist the Orthodontist in the overall

• delivery of oral care and work independently to provide an exceptional patient experience.
• Orthodontic Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties.
• Orthodontic Dental Assistants prepare patients for oral examination and assist other dental
• professionals in providing treatment to the teeth, mouth, and gums 
• Summary of Essential Job Functions:
• Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including installing braces, adjusting
• wires, and placing aligners.
• Prepare and sterilize orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Fabricate and fit orthodontic appliances, such as retainers and space
• maintainers, under the orthodontist's direction.
• Remove braces, wires, and bands as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document treatment progress.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques specific to orthodontic care.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in each operatory.
• Prepare tray setups for orthodontic procedures and ensure proper supply
• management.
• Instruct patients on general oral health care, as directed by the orthodontist.
• Ensure compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations, including HIPAA,
• OSHA, ADA, and Dental Board requirements.
• Record patient charting and update records as needed.
• Take digital x-rays for treatment assessment.
• Assist in managing and maintaining the orthodontic supply inventory.
• Stay current with advancements in orthodontics and maintain required
• certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge and Skills:
• 1-3 years experience in an ortho practice is preferred
• Patient-focused, team player

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
