About The Role:
The Packaging Managers will work closely with Operations Manager and Distribution Manager to ensure packaging efficiency and priorities within the packaging team, utilize/troubleshoot all packaging equipment and standard processes, and help to guide new packaging employees. Additionally, they will provide oversight for all daily activities of the packaging facility from the creation of products to the fulfillment of orders going out the door. The Packaging Manager plans and directs work and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, materials, productivity, quality control, while maintaining compliance with state and local regulations
In This Role You Will:
- Daily Packaging Oversight: Oversee and assist in all daily activities of packaging, including planning and assignment.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate scheduling and real-time utilization of resources, keeping all departments in communication while minimizing interference.
- Cross-Department Communication: Communicate with central operations management to ensure smooth coordination between all departments, including production, fulfillment, sales, marketing, and accounting.
- Schedule and Compliance Management:Ensure departments maintain production schedule adherence and compliance with state and safety regulations.
- Contingency Planning and Problem Resolution: Enact contingency plans as needed; escalate and direct activities during system problems; identify potential issues, troubleshoot, and participate in analysis of past problems to provide input for future process improvements.
- Team Environment and Morale: Foster a positive work environment and build consensus among staff and departments to maximize efficiency and morale.
- Inventory Management: Lead and assist with general inventory management, keeping all ingredients, packaging, and sale-ready inventory at expected levels based on sales projections and production goals.
- Employee Training: Train new and existing employees on current and updated procedures.
- Performance Management: Address employee performance issues, generate improvement plans, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Operations Support: Support the Operations Manager by ensuring they are fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action or suggest alternative courses of action.
- Production Planning Support: Support the company in packaging planning, ensuring the business is adequately resourced and that production schedules align with product sales rates.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for quality assurance of all products, communicates issues, and proposes solutions.
- Policy Implementation: Implement any new policies and procedures relating to the production process.
You’ll be a great fit if you have the following:
- You have at least 2 years experience working in a packaging or production environment, preferably in cannabis
- You have worked in a cGMP compliant environment and understand the requirements for documentation
- You have managed small teams in the past and can demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- You communicate proactively and consistently with your team.
- You have experience working with complex organizational systems; bonus points if you’ve worked with a seed-to-sale system.
- You lead by example and enjoy building strong connections between team members.
- You can analyze sales data and translate it into accurate packaging projections.
- You can identify problems and apply critical thinking to develop effective solutions.
- You can plan and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion that supports the entire team.
- You can lift up to 50 pounds and are comfortable standing for up to 50% of your shift, as needed.
- You demonstrate integrity and respect in all interactions, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- You strive for the highest standards in every aspect of your role.
- You can adapt to and drive change with enthusiasm.
