We are looking for a passionate Vice President, Movement Experiences-IC who will be responsible for managing BBYO International Convention, our largest annual convening of over 5,000 teens, volunteers, staff, community leaders and stakeholders from around the world. This role brings together strategic planning, community engagement and strong relationship-building. As the VP of Movement Experiences-IC you will execute strategies to engage alumni, parents, and community members in supporting and advocating for BBYO. Responsibilities include oversight of all functions of convention including programs and operations. This role requires strong analytical and organizational abilities to effectively delegate tasks, motivate colleagues and manage stakeholder priorities. Finally, this person must understand how to design and execute excellent teen programs. 

SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF

As a VP of Movement Experiences-IC, you will create and maintain overall project plan for International Convention (IC) ensuring that all event staff are tracking towards key deadlines/milestones and creating high quality programs throughout IC.

Position Overview - The role is responsible for leading and executing high-quality programming and operational excellence for BBYO International Convention (IC), in collaboration with internal teams and external partners. This position is instrumental in driving strategy, leading teams, managing vendors and executing programs.

As Vice President of Movement Experience, your responsibilities will include:

Program Development & Execution

  • Design and deliver high-quality IC programs in collaboration with the IC team, serving as a model for regional staff.
  • Lead planning and execution of Sightseeing and Sports Day at IC, including location scouting and team coordination.
  • Support the development of plenary, LEADs and Limmud content and review IC speakers and all sessions.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Develop IC team structure and establish meeting cadence.
  • Lead IC Leadership and Core teams and facilitate regular meetings.
  • Meet with Leadership Team members to align on goals, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Recruit, organize, and manage all logistics for the full IC Staffing team.
  • Elevate the staff experience at IC through thoughtful engagement and support.

Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee the IC budget and ensure financial accountability.
  • Provide oversight and support for the Sr. Director of Convention Operations.
  • Manage all contracts and support the Sr. Director of Conference Operations in vendor relationships (hotel, conference center, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendors on security, safety, and transportation.
  • Create and support plan for adults (speakers, guests, alumni) attending IC.
  • Recommend future IC locations based on strategic and logistical considerations.
  • Oversee partnerships with Jewish community organizations.
  • Execute the strategic plan as it relates to IC.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel annually for IC includes 3–4 location visits and approximately 2 weeks onsite during convention.
  • Travel outside annual IC responsibilities includes (but not limited to) BBYO Staff Conference, quarterly Movement Experiences Leadership meetings and an annual team retreat. This role may staff a summer program should they be interested (this is not required).

Additional Duties

  • Lead field trip planning for BBYO summer leadership experiences (ILTC and International Kallah).
  • Serve as a member of the Movement Experiences Leadership team.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, based on candidate experience and organizational needs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT

Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. Additionally, these skills are key to success for the Vice President Movement Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years previous project management/event management experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in management, business or related field
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing relationships with a variety of vendors for large-scale conferences/events
  • Strong understanding and experience with teen programming
  • Strong budget management and technical skills including Airtable (a plus), Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite
  • Attention to detail, clear communication and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Very motivated, creative, and willing to take risks-entrepreneurial in spirit
  • Strong listening skills, public speaking skills, flexibility, and ability to work with different constituents
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community and familiarity with Jewish non-profit organizations preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and lead a team
  • Capacity to take initiative and lead projects from beginning to end, including working with vendors
  • Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Preference will be given to Washington, D.C. candidates and those who operate in the Eastern or Central Time Zones
