Make an impact with our Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) and Assurance team as a Senior Accountant/Designated Professional in this unique dual role (50% AAS, 50% Public Companies). Responsibilities
This is a dual role with 50% in our Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) and 50% in Public Companies Assurance Groups.
- Provide technical accounting advisory services, including understanding and addressing the implications of significant transactions, new accounting standards, and frameworks on financial reporting mandates and business objectives.
- Support clients in their go-public journey, including developing go-public strategies, establishing milestones and deliverables, and preparing financial information for regulatory compliance.
- Perform technical accounting research, prepare documentation for clients, and identify accounting issues within contracts and agreements.
- Conduct financial statement audits and interim reviews for public companies within both Canada and the US.
- Prepare and review financial statements and related disclosures in compliance with IFRS and SEC requirements.
- Apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE).
- Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports.
- Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses.
- Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights.
- Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members.
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities.
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
Skills And Experience
- Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- 3–5 years of relevant public accounting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, ASPE and familiarity with SEC reporting requirements.
- Strong technical research and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.
