Job Description

Requirements Elicitation & Documentation

• Lead workshops and interviews with business stakeholders, data owners, and end-users to deeply understand business processes and reporting requirements both on Pre-Project and Project Phase.
• Lead requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, and interviews with business and technical stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate needs for various GCP initiatives.
• Translate business needs into clear, well-defined technical requirements, documenting them as Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria in tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Analyze and document requirements not only for Data Warehouse migrations (e.g., to BigQuery) but also for:
• Data & Analytics Platforms: Defining requirements for data pipelines (Cloud Dataflow, Dataproc), real-time streaming solutions (Pub/Sub), and business intelligence dashboards.
• Application Modernization: Capturing specifications for migrating applications to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, or App Engine.
• AI/ML Initiatives: Eliciting requirements for machine learning models, defining success metrics, and specifying data inputs for Vertex AI projects.
• Differentiate and manage both functional requirements (what the system must do) and non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, security, scalability, data residency, and compliance) specific to the GCP environment.
• Define and document source-to-target data mappings, transformation rules, and data quality expectations for various datasets.
• Manage and prioritize the project backlog in collaboration with the Project Manager and Lead Data Engineer, using tools like Jira or Confluence.

Data Analysis & Solution Design

• Analyze and document the client's current-state data ecosystem, including existing EDWs, ETL processes, data models, and BI reporting dependencies.
• Work closely with Data Architects to map legacy data models to modern, scalable architectures utilizing GCP services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage).
• Serve as the functional expert, clarifying ambiguities for the engineering team and validating that implemented solutions meet the defined business objectives.
• Define and document data governance, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., PII handling, data retention policies) within the new GCP environment.

Stakeholder Management & UAT

• Facilitate continuous communication between the business units, technical data engineering team, and cloud architects.
• Develop detailed User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, scenarios, and test scripts based on requirements.
• Coordinate and execute UAT sessions, manage defect resolution, and obtain final business sign-off prior to production deployment.
• Provide training and clear documentation to support the smooth transition of the client’s internal teams to the new data platform.

Qualifications

Technical & Domain Expertise (Must-Haves)

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, specializing in data, analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), or Data Warehousing projects.
• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (Dimensional Modeling, 3NF, Data Vault) and how they apply to modern cloud data platforms.
• Proficiency in SQL for data discovery, analysis, validation, and querying large datasets.
• Proven experience in a project involving migration from a legacy data platform (e.g., Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server) to a cloud environment.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Consulting & Soft Skills

• Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively run technical and business-focused workshops.
• Proven ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders and resolve conflicting requirements in a client-facing consultative setting.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in requirements documentation.
• Fluency in English (additional local language proficiency is a plus).

Preferred (Nice-To-Have) Skills

• Cloud Exposure: Direct experience or strong familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its data services (especially BigQuery).
• Tooling: Experience with modern data transformation tools like dbt or data cataloging solutions.
• Certification: Industry certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or a relevant Google Cloud certification (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer).
• BI Tools: Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and understanding of how data warehouse design impacts reporting performance.
