Summary
The Captain serves as a site-level supervisor and direct field leader responsible for the day-to-day execution of security operations at assigned installations within the contract. Acting as the senior on-site authority during their shift, Captains oversee multiple posts, coordinate scheduling adjustments, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with all contract requirements, post orders, and regulatory standards. They are critical to the supervision-driven management approach and act as the operational link between the Project Manager’s command structure and field personnel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise all assigned personnel within the designated installation or area of operations.
- Oversee shift transitions, post coverage, and site staffing to ensure 100% fulfillment and immediate response to callouts or absences.
- Enforce adherence to General and Site-Specific Post Orders, SOPs, and NDW security directives.
- Conduct post inspections, check officer readiness, and ensure compliance with appearance, credentialing, and equipment standards.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for incident response, emergency coordination, and interagency communication with NDW stakeholders or local law enforcement.
- Collaborate with the Major and QCM to document findings from inspections, initiate performance coaching, and implement quality control actions.
- Support onboarding of new officers, ensuring readiness for post assignment and familiarity with site-specific procedures.
- Lead daily shift briefings, disseminating updates, safety messages, and mission-critical guidance.
- Use workforce management tools (e.g., Mobohubb, Findd, WinTeam) to monitor schedules, validate officer presence, and document operational events.
- Recommend corrective or disciplinary action as needed and escalate to the Deputy PM when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Exercises direct supervision over 1-15 Security Officers and Shift Supervisors. Provides input to the management in regards to operation, status of posts, and Security Officers.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in security supervision, military leadership, or law enforcement command roles.
- Demonstrated experience supervising armed security operations in a federal, military, or multi-site environment.
- Strong familiarity with access control protocols, incident response, and personnel scheduling best practices.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and lead teams during emergencies or elevated threat levels.
- Must meet or exceed all qualifications required for armed security personnel under the NDW contract, including background checks, medical/physical fitness, and weapons licensing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any site-specific clearance levels required by the contract.
Language Skills
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos using the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts with basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with accuracy.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Payroll systems; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software skills.

- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Other Qualifications
Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Vehicle operators must be at least 25 years of age and have a driving record with no more than one moving violation. Where applicable: State Security Officer License; Certification in the use of weapons, State Armed License if required. Must be available on-site during assigned shifts and on-call for urgent response. May be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays as dictated by the contract or operational needs.
