Job Description
Position Overview
Third Bridge's Forum division delivers investment research to its global institutional investor client base, including managers investing across public equities, fixed income, private equity, real assets, and other alternatives.
The Sector Analyst team within Forum is responsible for uncovering actionable insight through in-depth conversations with senior executives and industry specialists, driving sector and regional coverage strategy, and engaging with clients to showcase the value of our research.
We are looking for a motivated analyst to join our team in Tokyo. On a daily basis you will be engaging industry thought leaders to drive insights on Japanese industries and businesses directly to our clients.
In this role you will be expected to:
- Conduct research on industries, public and private businesses in Japan for a range of tier-1 asset management clients;
- Generate actionable investment ideas, perform initial due diligence and prepare detailed questions lists, and then go deeper into the subject matter by hosting interviews on those topics with industry experts and executives;
- Drive discussions with industry specialists, extracting value-added and actionable insight throughout your discussions;
- Manage internal and external stakeholders; educate and pitch upcoming work to sales teams; interact and build relationships with clients;
- Build out your network with industry specialists across your areas of coverage; do deep-dives on industries/companies, figure out where specialists have non-consensus views, and build out a pipeline of content.

- Results Driven; self-starter committed to digging deep into their coverage, a high degree of work ethic, and personal responsibility/ownership for the role.
- Entrepreneurial; a strong entrepreneurial drive and desire to help shape and develop the Forum product.
Qualifications
- 1-3yrs experience in producing research on Japanese stocks and/or exposure to private equity deal flow in Japan through sellside, buyside, management consulting or other investment research-related roles
- Proven experience in conducting equity research and/or demonstrated ability to conduct fundamental, bottom-up research
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills that would help build rapport when driving your research with experts
- Strong team orientation, highly collaborative with proven experience in driving outcomes through teamwork
- Native-level command of spoken and written Japanese, and strong English skills. Knowledge of other Asian languages can be advantageous for the position
- Allocated sector coverage will be dependent on candidate profile, experience, and team coverage requirements1-3yrs experience in producing research on Japanese stocks and/or exposure to private equity deal flow in Japan through sellside, buyside, management consulting or other investment research-related roles
