The Role

Hone is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to join our growing data team. In this role, you will report to the Senior Director of Data, Analytics & Machine Learning and work closely with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to develop models, analyze data, and deliver actionable insights that drive business impact.

This internship is a hands-on opportunity to work across the data science lifecycle (from data collection to model development and evaluation), while gaining exposure to modern tools and workflows used in production environments.

Primary Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Explore, clean, and analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
  • Build and evaluate predictive and statistical models to support prediction, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data science problems and translate them into actionable projects.
  • Design and analyze experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to evaluate product changes and measure impact.
  • Work with data engineers to ensure data pipelines, feature stores, and infrastructure support model development and deployment.
  • Develop visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science workflows, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications

To qualify for this internship, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of statistics, probability, and machine learning concepts.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with key data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch).
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries to manipulate and analyze data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools or libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, or Power BI).
  • Exposure to A/B testing, experimentation design, or causal inference techniques is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and frameworks, with a focus on self-improvement.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote cross-functional environment.
  • A stable internet connection and access to a PC/laptop.

Compensation Range

Up to $25/hr. (averaging approximately 30-40 hours per week).
