In this role, you will be deeply involved in the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable blockchain infrastructure supporting multiple chains and protocols. You will work side-by-side with engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship, while helping the team deliver high-quality systems that directly impact the business. This is a technical-first role where your contributions—both as a builder and as a leader—will be critical to the success of our custody products and the broader vision of an open financial system.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small, high-caliber engineering team, setting and maintaining very high engineering standards and accountability.
- Actively contribute to the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable custody and staking infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to prioritize initiatives, treating customer pain points and urgent issues as top priority.
- Drive architectural decisions, promote best practices, and ensure systems meet high standards for reliability, security, and performance.
- Personally tackle complex, high-impact technical projects that require deep problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
- Work closely with team members on coding, code reviews, and problem-solving to ensure fast, thoughtful, and high-quality delivery.
- Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and operational excellence across the team.
- Rapidly iterate to support new blockchain features and protocols while maintaining stability and scalability.
- Troubleshoot critical technical issues and lead decision-making that directly impacts business outcomes and customer experience.
Preferred Qualifications

- Strong technical background with hands-on experience building scalable, secure backend systems.
- Proven ability to drive engineering excellence and accountability within a team.
- Experience leading small, high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-urgency environment.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems, microservices, or high-availability infrastructure.
- Familiarity with digital asset custody, wallets, or blockchain infrastructure is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to prioritize customer-facing issues, treat critical problems as P0, and deliver reliable solutions quickly.
- Track record of tackling complex technical challenges with ownership and excellence.
- Strong problem-solving skills, balancing hands-on coding with leadership and strategic decision-making.
