About The Role
Peloton is seeking a senior leader (15+ years of experience) for our Compliance, Policy & Regulatory Affairs function. In this role you will be responsible for shaping Peloton’s compliance and regulatory strategy, ensuring adherence to laws and policies, and leading external engagement with regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders. You will bridge internal risk, legal, business, and policy functions to support sustainable growth while managing regulatory and reputational risk exposures.
You will oversee a team of compliance and trade professionals, and serve as a strategist and voice on regulatory issues, legislative matters, and internal compliance matters. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the CLO, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors, possessing the ability to communicate complex legal, regulatory, and policy developments in terms of their clear business impact. You will ensure that Peloton not only fulfills its obligations but also anticipates potential risks and positions itself strategically ahead of regulatory changes. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO).
This role is based out of Peloton’s NYC Headquarters, with occasional travel to Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Compliance
- Lead Peloton’s global compliance program, developing, implementing, and monitoring enterprise-wide policies and procedures.
- Monitor trends and changes in, and ensure compliance with, laws and regulations including the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, OFAC, anti-slavery, and environmental frameworks.
- Oversee supplier and vendor diligence, monitoring, and risk assessments.
- Design and deliver company-wide compliance training and awareness programs.
- Partner with leaders across Legal, Internal Audit, Security & Trust, Supply Chain, People, and other functions to identify and mitigate risk.
Ethics & Investigations
- Manage the Ethics Helpline as a central channel for reporting and resolving compliance and business ethics concerns.
- In partnership with Team Member Relations and Employment, oversee Peloton’s investigations framework, including policies, triage, documentation, training, and reporting.
- Conduct data analysis of investigations to identify trends, root causes, and systemic risks.
- Report investigations outcomes, themes, and remediation to the CLO, Chief People Officer, senior leadership, and the Board/Audit Committee as appropriate.
- Foster a “Speak Up” culture of trust, transparency, and accountability. This includes partnering with key cross-functional leaders, including the CLO, to foster a culture of integrating compliance and ethics into Peloton’s business.
- Deliver clear, concise investigation reporting and insights suitable for executive and Board-level presentations.
Policy & Regulatory Affairs
- Together with the CLO, serve as Peloton’s liaison with federal policymakers and regulators.
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies, building bipartisan relationships in the U.S. Congress and executive branch.
- Represent Peloton at industry events, policy discussions, and in responses to legislative or regulatory inquiries.
- Draft and coordinate comment letters, responses to congressional inquiries, and preparation for hearings or testimony.
- Manage outside lobbyists, trade associations, and policy advisors to ensure consistent messaging and strategy.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, advising cross-functional leaders with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Translate complex policy developments into clear business implications for executives and the Board.
- Partner with and oversee external advisors to advocate on key policy issues (including tariffs) and provide clear and business implications to executives and the Board.
Trade Compliance
- Oversee Peloton’s global trade compliance program, including tariff management, import/export controls, and related government interactions.
- Collaborate with government affairs advisors, finance and supply chain leaders on tariff impact assessments and advocacy strategies.
Leadership & Governance
- Lead a small global team of an ethics and compliance specialist and two trade compliance experts.
- Integrate investigations and compliance insights into Peloton’s annual Compliance Risk Assessment.
- Champion the use of technology and analytics (including AI) to improve compliance programs and risk management.
- Ensure regular, timely, and effective communication of compliance and policy issues to leadership and the Board, including quarterly reporting to the Audit Committee and annual reporting to the Board.
- Effectively manage external government affairs advisors and compliance vendors to scale impact.
Qualifications
- 15+ years in compliance, regulatory, or government affairs roles within complex global organizations, or experience in/with legislative, regulatory, or executive branch agencies.
- Juris Doctor (JD) required; active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction (New York or California preferred).
- Experience engaging directly with Boards/Audit Committees for publicly traded companies and senior policymakers.
- Background in hardware, consumer electronics, or MedTech strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to oversee trade compliance programs for tariff sensitive industries.
- Proven policy and advocacy expertise, with demonstrated success engaging government stakeholders.
- Experience leading and developing teams, with a track record of fostering accountability, inclusion, and ethical behavior.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent judgment, including knowing when to escalate issues versus solving problems independently.
- Ability to manage sensitive, high-impact matters with discretion and political awareness.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Independent and strategic thinker who is also a strong team player (no job is too small or too large).
