Job Description
Data Governance at CPP Investments is focused on enabling better decision-making through trusted, high-quality data. The team maintains the enterprise-wide Data Governance Standard and works closely with Data Owners, Stewards, and Technical Area Leads (TALs) to ensure data products are fit for purpose, well-managed, and continuously improved. We also partner with Stewards to ensure metadata is accurate, complete, and actionable, while providing guidance on implementing effective data quality rules and controls across the organization
Job Description
As a Lead, you are responsible for helping to set the strategic direction for data governance within the organization. This role involves collaborating design of Data Products, ensuring data trust, adherence of data governance standard, and the maintenance of the data catalogue. Ensures Data Products are reusable, interoperable, and meet data consumers’ needs. You will directly contribute to achieving business objectives by collaborating with stakeholders to understand their data needs and leading pieces of work to simplify and scale up our data solutions and capabilities.
Core Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and development of Data Products within a federated data mesh architecture, collaborating with data product owners and supporting internal business partners in the Investment Departments and Core Services.
- Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement within the team and influence similar improvements across teams, providing technical leadership and coaching
- Ensure Data Products are reusable, interoperable, and meet SLA adherence, while observing how they are used downstream to ensure self-service and a high degree of data comprehension and trust
- Develop and uphold data quality standards and policies, ensuring a thorough understanding of various internal and external data sets flowing through the systems.
- Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis findings, helping inform business strategies, optimize operations, and drive organizational growth and performance.
- Act as a data steward, maintaining data accuracy and governance, and providing ongoing support for Data Governance capabilities such as metadata management, data quality, and reporting.
- Accountable for organizing roadshows for stakeholders to communicate updates and changes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance data analysis methodologies, tools, and processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize data analysis workflows and deliver increasingly valuable insights.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements, align analytical efforts with organizational goals, and ensure the relevance and impact of data analysis initiatives.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with a variety of analytical tools and visualization software’s.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the data lifecycle, including experience with data modeling, metadata, and data quality and governance.
- Experience in analyzing, manipulating, transforming, and interpreting datasets, and building data products in a data mesh architecture
- Exposure with data modeling, data architecture, data engineering, data analysis and data science (familiarity with ETL tools, data warehousing and big data architecture and cloud constructs).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
