Role Overview
The VP, Innovation & Transformation – Legal & Compliance (L&C) will be responsible for executing Blackstone’s initiatives to improve how L&C operates internally and collaborates with law firm partners. This role will focus on delivering technology implementations, process improvements, and measurable operational efficiencies. The VP will work closely with L&C leadership, Blackstone’s technology and operations teams, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with tangible results.
Key Responsibilities
1. Execute L&C Technology and Process Initiatives
- Research and evaluate emerging AI and legal technology solutions, aligning them to L&C’s operational needs.
- Build and execute business cases for technology adoption, including ROI analysis, implementation plans, and success metrics.
- Manage end-to-end delivery of tech projects—from vendor selection through rollout—ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.
- Partner with global teams to ensure solutions meet jurisdictional requirements and can scale across the organization.
2. Drive Operational Transformation
- Lead cross-functional project teams to implement process improvements, knowledge management tools, and automation solutions.
- Oversee vendor onboarding, contract management, and performance tracking for L&C technology providers.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure adoption of new tools and processes.
- Monitor, measure, and report on project outcomes, making adjustments to ensure sustained impact.
- 3. Strengthen Law Firm Collaboration
- Lead cross-functional project teams to implement process improvements, knowledge management tools, and automation solutions.
- Oversee vendor onboarding, contract management, and performance tracking for L&C technology providers.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure adoption of new tools and processes.
- Monitor, measure, and report on project outcomes, making adjustments to ensure sustained impact.
- 3. Strengthen Law Firm Collaboration
- Execute initiatives to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness in law firm engagements, including alternative fee arrangements and process streamlining.
- Manage the preparation and execution of annual law firm rate negotiations, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Facilitate regular feedback sessions with law firm partners to identify improvement opportunities and track progress.
- Support adoption of new technologies and workflows with law firm partners to improve service delivery.
4. Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with L&C leadership to align execution priorities with strategic objectives.
- Partner with technology, procurement, and finance teams to ensure coordinated delivery of initiatives.
- Maintain clear, regular communication with stakeholders on project status, risks, and results.
- Track and report performance metrics across all initiatives, ensuring accountability for results.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; JD or equivalent legal qualification preferred. MBA or advanced degree in business, operations, or technology is a plus.
- Experience: 8+ years in operations, technology implementation, legal operations, or related fields, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects. Consulting or financial services experience preferred.
- Technology Execution: Hands-on experience implementing technology solutions and optimizing workflows at scale; familiarity with AI applications in legal and compliance contexts.
- Project Management: Strong skills in planning, execution, and delivery, effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across functions and with external partners.
- Change Management: Experience driving adoption of new tools and processes through training, communication, and ongoing support.
- Results Orientation: Demonstrated experience delivering measurable operational improvements.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range:
$165,000 - $250,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
