GENERAL FUNCTION:
Conducts both supervised and independent investment manager research to support Fifth Third Bank or Fifth Third Wealth Advisors (FTWA). Provides investment manager coverage and recommendations and assists in the management of model portfolios. Works work under the direction of/in cooperation with the W&AM Director, External Manager Research and more senior External Manager Research Analysts.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

• Perform quantitative and qualitative research on various investment managers for use in client accounts managed by portfolio managers and/or advisors.
• Alert leadership and advisory teams of industry and market trends, new investment strategies, techniques and products through regular contact with others industry professionals and through internal and external research.
• Responsible for the generation of research reports supporting leadership recommendations.
• Provide ad-hoc recommendations and reports to advisory teams to help prepare for client and prospect meetings.
• Participate in the oversight of fund models used in Fifth Third Bank or FTWA
• Responsible for maintaining and monitoring an approved list of SMA’s, Mutual Funds and ETFs.
• Provide regular screenings of the Mutual Fund universe resulting in mutual fund share class exchanges, when appropriate.
• Special project work as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree required.  A major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration preferred.
• CFA (or other professional industry designation) preferred or in process.  
• 1-4 years investment industry experience recommended or 0-2 years of investment experience with an MBA or CFA.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Strong qualitative and analytical skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CoPilot.

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
• Extended viewing of computer screens

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
