Position Summary

The Samsung global services team is responsible for driving Smart TV and mobile services businesses by building intelligent, integrated, cross-platform services that delight and entertain users. Samsung TV Plus is an industry-leading FAST (free ad-supported TV) and VOD (video-on-demand) service reaching +30 countries and millions of devices globally across TV and mobile. One of the first FAST platforms with more than 630M active devices, Samsung TV Plus now offers more than 3,000 channels globally, along with thousands of shows and movies on-demand. 



The Samsung TV Plus group is looking for a Director of Global Data Analytics & Insights (DAI) to build and lead our Global Analytics and Insights practice. This position focuses on managing complex, high-stakes analyses and leveraging advanced tools and AI technologies to support strategic business decisions. The role requires exceptional technical proficiency, a strong academic pedigree, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in delivering actionable insights. It will support (1) Business insights, systems architecture, tools, generating data and quantitative analysis for business decision support, (2) Strategic business management by monitoring KPI performance and (3) Lead discussions with the Product team by bringing a data-backed viewpoint, analysis and recommendations, supported by narrative style deep dives. Implementing advanced Gauss AI capabilities to leapfrog business insights.



The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, action-oriented leader with deep experience in data, analytics, research, or statistics.  Strong communication and presentation skills are a must, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and insights from data.  The candidate should be able to get into the weeds of data systems and disparate data sources, as well as provide guidance to global team members who execute and elevate insights for strategic decision support to support the global platform. The Director of Data Analytics & Insights will need the ability to navigate organizational and system complexity, become the team expert in data sets and tools. Thus, the candidate will need to combine deep technical knowledge with strong business judgment.

Role And Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the business analysis by generating data from internal and external systems/sources, to undertand user journey, behavior and engagement on the platform, and creating metric-driven narratives
  • Conduct ongoing analysis and maintenance of key platform metrics, business trends, and performance indicators for both internal reporting and external communication purposes
  • Analyze existing data sets to extract actionable insights in support of business management and growth
  • Become the team expert of available data systems and tools, including consolidating, reconciling, and interpreting fragmented data sets across regions and collate with HQ
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and HQ teams on addressing any system or tool deficiencies and ramp up Gauss AI driven capabilities and insights at scale with high cadence of iteration
  • Drive planning and requirements scoping for enhancing Analytics and Operations practice
  • Support team operational processes and needs across product, engineering, marketing, content, other
  • Provide data inputs to other teams working on cross company initiatives not limited to ecommerce, gaming, monetization among other

Skills And Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.  Prior experience in analytics/data required, experience in management consulting a plus.
  • Advanced technical degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related field from a top-tier institution.
  • Strong publication record or contributions to academic or industry conferences in the field of data analytics or AI are preferable
  • Professional experience extracting insights from large, technical data sets, and communicating insights and recommendations to varied audiences, including high-level executives
  • Comfortable working in SQL and relational databases. Strong understanding of financial modeling and statistical analysis needed
  • Extensive experience conducting and communicating quantitative and qualitative financial analysis in layman’s terms. Superior proficiency with complex financial modeling.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations
  • Experience leading and building teams

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Los Angeles, CA, is expected to be between $200,000 ~ $220,000.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
