About The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic visionary to join Corporate Model Risk Management (CMRM) as Senior Analyst, Model Risk Governance. Model Risk Governance is a small team responsible for the independent oversight, measurement, and reporting of Sun Life's model and business computing tool (MBCT) risk, including emerging risks such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI.
We are very passionate about improving our MBCT risk management processes and reducing Sun Life’s overall MBCT risk. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about process improvement, drives for efficiency changes, and is client focused. In this role we will work together to improve Sun Life’s MBCT governance process and gain valuable experience utilizing your soft skills such as project and time management, and client relations. You will also use your strong critical thinking skills to perform effective challenge.

What will you do?
Reporting to the Director of Model Risk Governance, the successful candidate will be a key contributor in the Corporate Model Risk team including monitoring compliance with policies and guidelines by which Models and BCTs are classified, tested, and approved. The successful candidate will also be accountable for the maintenance, review and oversight of the centralized MBCT inventory system.
The successful candidate will work closely with and gain exposure to our many global stakeholders and partners in the business and second line functions. They will also be responsible for identifying areas for enhancement of our MBCT inventory system, developing requirements, testing and implementation of these changes. These interactions will give the successful candidate opportunities to enhance their leadership potential by honing their critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Play a key role in the development of a stronger second line function for Model and BCT risk
- Contribute to the modernization of the Model and Business Computing Tool Risk Management Policy and related Enterprise Operating Guidelines that ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and new technologies
- Drive innovation in our MBCT inventory and governance processes to improve risk monitoring and enhance capabilities for monitoring Gen AI tools
- Engage with global stakeholders to identify potential MBCT risk issues within the organization and ensure escalation and management actions are put in place to address these
- Work closely with the Director of Model Risk Governance to build our Center of Excellence for MBCT risk management, including training and development for all stakeholders
- Build strong relationships with MBCT risk contacts in the business groups and stay abreast of any MBCT related challenges they may have
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation
What do you need to succeed?
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, or other related disciplines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-informed, rational decisions and reach sound conclusions based on available information and experience
- Strong stakeholder management, relationship management, and influencing skills dealing with a broad range of stakeholders
- Critical thinking and ability to provide effective challenge
- Solid communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to explain complex ideas to a non-technical audience
- Excellent project management and time management skills with a proven commitment to quality and meeting deadlines while handling multiple priorities
- Experience with creating and building new approaches and bringing innovative ideas to fruition
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in risk management or related functions
- Experience with Archer Risk Management solutions
- Business knowledge and experience related to the Insurance and/or Financial Services industry
- Experience in a large-size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
