Position Purpose:
The Prospect Management Analyst is responsible for actively supporting the faculty and/or unit 's fundraising efforts by working closely with the Telfer Advancement Team to track movement though the donor cycle, analyze moves management and key fundraising metrics, and develop tools to make data visible. As a member of the Telfer Advancement Team, the Prospect Management Analyst role will manage the process for tracking prospects in the fundraising database and provide training on the effective use of the system and reports.
In This Role, You Will:
- Arranges individual and group pipeline meetings with faculty and/or unit Advancement staff, which includes Officers, Managers, Directors, and Senior Leadership, to review strategies and next moves. This will enable faculty and/or unit Advancement Staff to report on Major and Principal Gift activities to the Vice-President of Advancement and senior staff such as Deans and Assistant Directors.
- Develops and implements Prospect Management tools to assist faculty and/or unit Advancement staff to keep a robust pipeline, which will inform staff of their targets and campaign goals university wide.
- Monitors pipelines to provide timely and accurate analytical information to assist Staff with strategies to advance files. This will include advice and support of data requirements.
- Reports to the immediate supervisor about tracking systems and reporting, which will provide a regular mechanism for system improvements and modifications.
- Works with the Advancement Research Analysts, and use data mining and analytics, to identify new prospects to optimize the growth of pipelines.
- Provides training support and troubleshoot questions for faculty and/or unit Advancement Staff related to the coding of their pipelines, and the use of systems and reporting.
- Works with the immediate supervisor to develop procedures based on best practices to execute a prospect management clearance process. These standards will guide faculty and/or unit Advancement staff in keeping healthy pipelines.
- Works with the Central Advancement Business Intelligence team and Database Administrator to ensure data integrity of systems by running validation reports and flagging inconsistencies.
- Performs other duties in support of the University’s prospect management and research efforts as assigned.
- Works on assigned special projects as needed. In consultation with the immediate supervisor, special projects will be defined in scope, determines steps, monitors relevant progress, makes adjustments throughout the process and ensures efficient communication between participants.
What You Will Bring:
- Master’s degree in library sciences or information management, business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years in an advancement research, prospect management, fundraising, in higher education or complex non-profit environment
- Superior interpersonal skills, with proven ability to successfully collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional and diplomatic manner.
- Demonstrated understanding of development and major gifts fundraising and how research and prospect management supports development efforts as well as experience working with frontline fundraisers to evaluate moves management.
- Strong analytical skills: able to manipulate, analyze and synthesize data and present findings that are clear and actionable to a variety of Advancement professionals.
- Understanding of multiple screening strategies and methodologies, including data mining, segmentation, and analytics
- Ability to work independently and proactively, yet function in a collaborative team environment, exhibiting self-reliance, and an ability to form effective working partnerships with colleagues.
- Strong computers skills (word processing and database manipulation) and ability to learn new systems quickly. Knowledge and advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Raiser’s Edge a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of French and English
- Familiarity with PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) is a strong asset. The role requires the ability to use sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Experience providing training to individuals and groups on Internet research topics in both French and English would be a strong asset.
