Overview Of The Department/Section

  • This new department and business line will be reporting to the Co-Heads of EMEA Capital Markets with the intention to implement a newly established presence in EMEA for Equity Capital Markets.
  • This is a strategic leadership role for a highly motivated individual with deep ECM expertise, strong client relationships, and a proven track record of execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the ECM platform, driving origination, and delivering capital markets solutions across IPOs, follow-ons, block trades, and equity-linked products.
  • We seek to leverage the strength of MUFG's corporate client relationships and global investor footprint with particular focus in EMEA.
  • The work of our Capital Markets team is underpinned by MUFG's international scale, significant financial strength, and global network. We aim to build long-term relationships through our expertise and client-focused approach to each project.

Main Purpose Of The Role

  • Establish presence and growth for MUFG within EMEA Equity Capital Markets expanding on successful strategies implemented by our US colleagues.
  • Prepare bespoke solutions for clients, maintain and build new client relationships from a product expertise perspective in EMEA as well as expand the overall global ECM franchise.
  • Uptier the visibility, profile and capabilities of MUFG to compete more effectively for ECM mandates.
  • Maintain frequent and direct dialogue with corporates, sponsors, institutional investors and other Equity market participants as needed to provide expert market advice and transaction execution to the Firm’s clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the growth of MUFG’s EMEA Equity Capital Markets business including the development of a comprehensive strategic plan for profitable growth.
  • Partner with GCIB coverage and product bankers to identify, coordinate and execute Equity Capital Markets transactions, including IPOs, ABBs, rights offerings and equity-linked offerings with GCIB clients across industry sectors.
  • Supervise the preparation of presentation material for clients across all sectors and topics within ECM including IPOs, ABBs, rights offerings and equity-linked offerings.
  • Work with CMG analysts and associates to:
  • Analyse companies, sectors, deal activity, corporate filings, and shareholder data
  • Model and price equity-linked securities including convertible debentures and mandatory alternatives with cost of capital analyses, and call-spread overlays
  • Prepare underwriting applications, internal committee memorandums, market commentaries and internal deal approvals
  • Conduct due diligence and review transaction documentation
  • Assist in the execution of MUFG-led equity transactions, including the preparation of deal marketing materials and communication with external clients

Work Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience executing Equity Capital Markets transactions in a global bank.

Preferred:

  • Proven track record in executing IPOs, follow-on offerings, private placements, and convertible bonds across multiple sectors and geographies.
  • Experience working closely with M&A, DCM, equity research, sales & trading, and legal/compliance teams.

Skills And Experience

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential:

  • Ability to anticipate market trends and align ECM strategies with long-term business goals.
  • Scenario planning and macro/microeconomic analysis.
  • Leading cross-functional teams across origination, syndication, and execution.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, corporates, and regulatory bodies.
  • In-depth understanding of equity instruments, market structures, and syndication processes.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal, Excel (advanced), and risk analytics platforms.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to multiple EMEA markets and cross-border transactions.
  • Promoting integrity, transparency, and ethical standards in capital markets operations

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration etc., or equivalent qualifications

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required
