The UI/UX Designer will sit within Tilt, which is an innovative digital broker under the Howden umbrella, leveraging AI and automation to deliver effortless, self-service insurance solutions. We are redefining the commercial insurance space by removing unnecessary friction and making it easier for businesses to manage their policies online.
Role Purpose
The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for designing and optimising Tilt’s digital customer experiences across website, quote-and-buy journeys, and the mobile app.
The role will combine strong user-centred design skills with a sharp eye for brand application, ensuring Tilt delivers intuitive, high-converting, and visually consistent experiences across all digital touchpoints.
In addition to product design (primary role), the role will have the opportunity to support the creation of marketing and brand assets, working closely with the Marketing and Customer Experience team to deliver impactful campaigns, content, and collateral.
This is a mid-weight design role in a fast-moving, high-growth digital business. The right candidate will help shape Tilt’s customer journey from first impression through to purchase and ongoing engagement.
Key Responsibilities

- Design user interfaces and experiences for Tilt’s website, quote-and-buy flows, and mobile app.
- Translate customer needs, business requirements, and insurer constraints into simple, elegant, user-centred designs.
- Deliver wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished UI designs for development teams.
- Champion usability and accessibility best practices, ensuring designs meet WCAG standards and perform across devices.
- Partner with Product, Tech, and Marketing to refine customer journeys, improve conversion, and enhance engagement.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design choices.
- Analyse customer behaviour (heatmaps, funnel drop-off, data, feedback loops) to identify friction points.
- Iterate quickly based on user insights, testing, and performance data.
- Develop on-brand creative assets for campaigns, content, and social media.
- Support marketing initiatives with design for landing pages, ads, infographics, and presentations.
- Maintain and evolve Tilt’s design system, ensuring consistency across product and marketing.
- Design templates for customer communications, working alongside the CX teams to ensure clarity, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Work closely with developers to ensure smooth handover and implementation of designs.
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Product, and Operations teams to ensure customer experiences align with Tilt’s brand vision.
- Present design rationale and concepts to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
Key Requirements
- 3–5 years’+ experience in UI/UX or digital product design.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centred design across web and mobile.
- Proficiency in Figma (preferred), Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools.
- Experience designing responsive websites, mobile-first experiences, and apps.
- Ability to translate wireframes and ideas into polished UI assets.
- Understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and usability principles.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.
- Bonus: Experience with insurance, fintech, or other regulated digital products.
