How do investors feel when it comes to money? How can behavioral science help people make better financial decisions? The Behavioral Science Team at Fidelity Investments is looking for an advanced graduate student who is passionate about behavioral science and data analytics to join us as a summer intern and help us answer these types of research questions.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
- Advanced graduate student who is passionate about behavioral science and data analytics
- Third or fourth year of a PhD program in a field that is relevant to psychology, behavioral science, or consumer behavior.
The Skills You Bring
We are specifically looking for an advanced graduate student who is passionate about behavioral science and data analytics. This person should be in their third or fourth year of a PhD program in a field that is relevant to psychology, behavioral science, or consumer behavior.
- Deep understanding of experimental design, expertise in statistics (e.g., t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression)
- Effective at synthesizing, disseminating, and presenting research findings to diverse audiences
- Experience with SQL, Tableau, and working with messy, large datasets is a plus.
How Your Work Impacts the Organization
In this role there are opportunities to (1) design, execute, and analyze large-scale experiments to understand the role of emotion in financial decision making; (2) analyze and visualize how customers are using and benefiting from financial apps; and (3) share behavioral science knowledge with and provide consulting services to business partners. The team consists of PhD behavioral scientists who work on all aspects of business-related research projects including, designing and programming experiments and surveys, analyzing complex data, storytelling and visualization, and providing evidence-based business recommendations. We also engage in on-the-spot, timely consulting on how psychology and behavioral science can improve our products, experiences, and services.
