Submarine cable jointer / production operator

Pikkala plant manufactures low voltage, medium voltage, high voltage, and extra high voltage (up to 525kV) cables. Pikkala plant is Prysmian Group Center of Excellence in submarine manufacturing with more than 200-million-euro investments ongoing to expand our production capacity significantly. 

We are looking for Submarine Cable Jointers at our factory in Pikkala in Kirkkonummi to expand our team.

The jointing department is responsible for making factory joints to connect batches of the same type of cable to form a longer cable length. The operation is complex, involves several steps and many tools and machines. The jointing process is manually rebuilding each layer of cable.

Your duties include manufacturing submarine cable joints (MV/HV/EHV), performing submarine cable repairs, when needed, sealing of cable ends and support tasks for other production areas when required.

We Expect You To Have:

• experience in manufacturing work and possibility to work in a shift regime
• proactive attitude and good practical problem solving in a factory environment
• precision and capability to carefully follow the procedure and instructions given
• good teamwork skills: the assigned tasks are usually performed in team
• good communication attitude: both towards supervisors and with colleagues
• Finnish language skills
• sufficient English proficiency (reading, speaking, writing) is essential: the factory is an international environment with some foreign colleagues and supervisors
• basic computer skills (reading/sending emails, opening, modifying, and saving very simple excel and word files) are needed
• enthusiasm for learning. 

We offer you a challenging and technologically versatile working environment as well as an extensive training. During the training the new jointer is followed by supervisors to illustrate equipment and methods and evaluate his level. The duration is several months but it depends on the skills of the trainee (the more skilled, the shorter). The aim is to make the trainee an autonomous jointer.

You will also have a chance to widen your skills' set by getting new qualifications, depending on the production urgencies and demands.

The work begins in the beginning of December and it is a permanent employment relationship. The employment relationship follows the collective agreement of Technology Industries of Finland.
