The CRO division develops and oversees the global framework for risk identification, control, reporting, and management within the risk tolerance for the various business activities for Julius Baer, aiming at sustainable growth of the franchise.At Julius Baer Group, the sustainability ambition is to empower clients, employees and broader stakeholder groups to make a positive impact on society and the environment. The Head of Sustainability leads the Sustainability team and defines the agenda for the Sustainability Board, providing guidance to its members and promoting cross-programme coordination and alignment. The Sustainability team is responsible for developing the sustainability strategy, and for proposing new strategic topics for the Sustainability Board’s consideration. It facilitates the implementation of sustainability related strategic initiatives, as well as training, sustainability risk, regulatory developments, client engagement, positioning and partnerships. The team further facilitates the overall coordination and alignment of sustainability activities carried out within different business functions. The team also engages with investors, clients and broader stakeholder groups, and provides regular status updates to the Sustainability Board, as well as to the Executive Board and the Board of Directors
This role has dual reporting and sets of responsibilities. Firstly, the role requires the provision of support to the CRO Asia, to facilitate efficient and effective handling of all all global, regional and location topics, executive and administrative matters (e.g. data consolidation for management reporting, financial management, budget preparation and tracking etc.). Secondly, the role requires the provision of support to the Head of Sustainability, facilitating the roll out of initiatives and practices in Asia and be the primary point of contact on Sustainability matters for Asia. The incumbent in this role, shall build highly impactful relationships with regional and global stakeholders across functions in the Bank.
Your Challenge
People Management
- Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment in CRO Asia (e.g. organising of social events, onboarding of new joiners, etc.);
- Motivate and provide guidance/feedback to other team members to improve overall performance;
- Work closely with HR to explore suitable trainings for the teams in CRO Asia.
- Support and facilitate employee surveys and improvements for Colleagues in Asia. Explore possibilities and drive change and actions to improve Peakon results;
Business Management
- Work to fulfil the ambitions and strategy defined by CRO Asia and goals set by Group CRO.
- Prepare monthly or ad hoc management reports for any global, regional and local management committees where CRO Asia is involved;
- Support the management of financials and headcount for CRO Asia to facilitate cost control/discipline in the division by adhering closely to CRO Asia’s instructions plus Global CRO BM directives/instructions;
- Work on annual financial budget;
- Track open audit items, closely follow up with respective stakeholders to enable timely closure;
- Implement / Support ad hoc initiatives
- Assisting in all CRO-related topics as and when necessary
Others
- Support matters as delegated (for example, projects management and process improvements), and be open to developing knowledge and understanding of regulatory and Compliance matters.
Regulatory Responsibilities &/OR Risk Management
- Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Sustainability
- Work closely with the Head of Sustainability and the Sustainability Team to facilitate the roll out of Group’s front to end initiatives and practices in Asia;
- Drive change
- Be a first point of contact on Sustainability matters for Asia, front to end;
- Foster collaborative working relationships and exchange of information across functions and with employees in Asia, such as client-facing employees, Research, IWMS and HR/JBA;
- Create awareness on Sustainability in Asia, e.g., Train and engage employees on Sustainability at Julius Baer and work with external trainers to create appropriate training content for IBF MAS TSCs for our employees. Through trainings, elevate knowledge on sustainability, ESG product rating methodology, sustainable products and solutions and portfolio reallocation.
- Support the application of the E&S Reputational Risk Guidelines in Asia, including E&S Rep Risk assessments of client relationships (new clients, existing clients). Provide training to enable appreciation and application. Provide SME opinion on escalated onboarding/existing cases with E&S exposures.
- Drive and implement the development work processes, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with sustainability regulations and standards both internally and externally.
- Identify and keep abreast with changes in regulations and analyse how the integration of sustainability compliance regulations and frameworks impacts the organisation's existing policies; to the extend needed, support exchange with regulator, industry bodies and other financial institutions.
- Support and communicate changes internally to ensure all business units work according to new/updated sustainability regulations and frameworks.
- Maintain the sustainability-related regulatory library for Asia.
- Coordinate thematic sustainability related client events to elevate awareness, enable conversations for like-minded clients and empower positive change.
- Support the provision of Asia’s data for preparation of climate stress test and Annual Sustainability Report and disclosures.
- Support the diligence process for JB decarbonisation initiatives in Asia.
- Develop sustainability reporting dashboard for presentation to Asia Management.
