At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $137,500 - $182,129 Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Finance & Accounting department. As a Senior Manager - Payroll, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth payroll operations and supporting our diverse team.
The Senior Manager - Payroll is responsible for overseeing the payroll process and the associated functions, as well as providing corporate guidance on payroll activities to the global S&C locations. This role ensures that all payroll obligations are met accurately and timely, monitoring ADP performance, manages the associated payroll policies, and ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Payroll Management:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Manage payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and audits.
- Review and approve payroll transmissions and ensure payroll tax accounts are reconciled.
- Provide corporate support to payroll related decision making at other S&C legal entities.
Systems & Automation:
- Manage the ADP relationship and performance of key KPI's.
- Lead payroll system optimizations and standardization.
- Automate payroll processes including but not limited to timesheets, reporting, and general ledger integration.
- Partner with HRIS and IT teams to optimize payroll workflows and data accuracy.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor payroll team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities for payroll team members.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT and Legal on cross-functional projects.
- Drive process improvements and best practices in payroll operations.
- Support system integration efforts and global payroll harmonization.
- Prepare and review payroll reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, year-end).
- Ensure controls compliance and internal control effectiveness.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll-related audits and inquiries.

- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities.

- Proactively establish, monitor, and hold team members and outside resources accountable to clear responsibilities and expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements, and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required.

What You’Ll Need To Succeed:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience of multi-country payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Ceridian).
- Certifications & Licenses
- Preferred Discipline/Specialty:
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
- 10+ years of payroll experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Required:
- 5-7 years of experience in accounts payable, with a least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Concur or similar).
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and AP processes.
- Good leadership skills, with the ability to lead, guide, motivate, and delegate to deliver results.
- Great communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff, managers, and team members.
- Communicate complex subjects, written and oral, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Rounded interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
- Great project management skills with a willingness to take ownership of projects, work independently, and lead project teams in a collaborative environment.
- Sound organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete detail-oriented work efficiently and meet timelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze complex financial and statistical data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues but also see the "big picture", and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.
- Good change management skills with the ability to lead positive change throughout the organization.
- Excellent sense of financial ethics and commitment towards compliance with financial legislation.
- Ability to travel periodically (0-15% annually), including internationally.
- Proficient in MS applications, including excellent Excel skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
- Experience with ERP and T&E management software (Oracle, Concur).
Physical Requirements
- Sitting - Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based work for approximately 5 days per work week.
- Walking - Occasionally required to walk moderate distances up to 1 mile as part of performance audit procedures (frequency - e.g. "multiple times each week/day/hour").
- Manual Dexterity - Infrequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate productivity equipment.
- Ascending / Descending - Infrequently ascending or descending stairs.
- Observation / Eyesight - Infrequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
- Communication - Frequently required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.
- Travel - Occasionally required to travel (up to 15%) and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight. Required to travel internationally, Physical demands are those typically associated with an office environment, but may also include laboratory environments, factory environments, and customer/field environments.
