As Manager of Tool Engineering group, the candidate would be responsible for providing supervisory/management responsibilities for a small group of engineers designing development and production tooling for the product lines at ABL (metal fabrication, composites, ammunition, electronic fuze, and rocket motor/warhead). This manager would also work on proposal requests and provide technical leadership and guidance to employees.
This position will be located on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote work is available for this position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead a team that designs, procures and validates manufacturing/test tooling
- Ensure the right people are in place to meet the business needs (staffing forecasts)
- Oversee the supervision of day-to-day engineering activity, expense management, workload management and performance management process
- Identify, manage and grow the critical skills for the tooling design team
- Prepare, review, and approve cost estimates and written technical proposals

Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical or Aerospace
- Minimum of 5 years of directly related engineering experience, or 3 years with an MS degree
- Strong mechanical skills and exposure to a manufacturing environment
- Ability and experience with interpreting drawing/specification requirements
- Strong leadership, influence, and project management skills
- Ability to network and negotiate at all levels within an organization to accomplish objectives
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to travel occasionally (<10%) to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with vendors
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior design or tool design experience
- Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Prior experience working with DoD and/or DoE customers, tech data packages and specs
