Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that lead international efforts to achieve food security and nutrition for all. With presently 194 member states, and working in more than 130 countries worldwide, including Namibia. FAO contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
The aim of the FAO Country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. FAO Country Office activities include the design and implementation of country-specific field programs, liaison with local donors' representatives, and active outreach activities related to FAO initiatives.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Namibia, and the direct supervision is the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme).
Technical Focus
The Incumbent’s primary focus will be to support the coordination efforts for programme activities and ensure the alignment with the programme's overall objectives. To support and keep track of the delivery of project results of the Core Partners. S/he will be contributing to the implementation of the Initiative's Annual workplan activities.
Tasks And Responsibilities
• Support resource planning exercises, ensuring the timely and accurate collection of financial and operational inputs from a variety of sources, in close coordination with technical backstopping teams and managers.
• Support the preparation, monitoring, and compliance of contractual arrangements with partners (e.g. LOA), ensuring timely delivery of agreed outputs and adherence to FAO procedures.
• Assist in the preparation, review, and consolidation of project-related documentation, including concept notes, technical briefs, progress reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and donor submissions, in coordination with the technical team.
• Assist in the follow-up on inputs and reporting requirements from country teams and partners and support the consolidation of inputs for regular reporting to the donor and internal reporting needs.
• Provide operational and logistical support for the implementation of project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets, including follow-up on deliverables and timelines.
• Assist in the organization and implementation of project-related events such as workshops, trainings, consultations, webinars, and field missions, ensuring effective coordination of logistics, travel, and documentation, in close collaboration with the technical programme associate, technical team and project implementation unit team.
• Liaise with relevant FAO units (Procurement, Finance, HR, Travel, Administration) to support timely processing of requests and smooth project operations.
• Contribute to the implementation of stakeholder engagement activities and awareness-raising campaigns in coordination with the technical team.
• Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and reporting to support programme learning and performance tracking.
• Maintain an organized filing and archiving system for all project documentations.
• Support the development and implementation of relevant Technical Corporation Programme (TCP) and other projects, ensuring carrying out of key activities and delivery of outputs and outcomes.
• Perform any other duties as may required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- • University degree in Agriculture, Agro-forestry, Agribusiness, Development Studies, Project Management, or another relevant fields.
- • Three years of relevant experience in developmental work implementation and coordination, project and programme management, and/or operational support related.
- • Working knowledge (level C) of English.
- • National of Namibia or resident of the country with valid work permit
