Job Summary

Southwest Airlines promises to provide Employees with equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. The Materials Programs Analyst is responsible for supporting our repair shops and heavy maintenance on all aircraft in the hangars with urgent material needs in order to ensure published schedules are maintained. This position works with many outside suppliers with all varieties of materials, and communicates across Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, Material Stores, Configuration Control, and QC Teams. They’ll also validate parts requests, resolve parts and invoice discrepancies, follow FAA regulations, and attend production meetings for updates. The Materials Programs Analyst is an organized collaborator who looks forward to driving their own career with Heart.

Responsibilities
  • Support SWA Production in all aspects of material management as it relates to heavy maintenance
  • Attend all pre- and post- doc meetings to provide accountability of material performance
  • Communicates continuously with Production, Quality Control, Engineering and Material Stores to ensure all heavy check material needs are addressed quickly and accurately
  • Ensure all part requests are necessary and that entries are correctly entered in the system
  • Network with internal and external Customers to develop a solid working relationship across multiple fronts
  • Follow policies and procedures at all times, and coaches others to do the same
  • Work with internal and external Customers to share knowledge of success and failure in our processes
  • Identify and collect cost saving initiatives, cost avoidance, and cost deferral opportunities
  • Maintain a repository for Department-level projects and knowledge management
  • Track the movement of parts and create stocking plan modifications as needed
  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer Satisfaction
  • Knowledge of the business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources while adhering to FAA/ Regulatory, Financial and Quality Compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and comprehend various technical documentation such as: Complex engineering documents, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Component Maintenance Manuals, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to derive the needs of the customer and develop material program improvements to achieve strategic goals and the department vision
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Is effective in a variety of communication settings as well as among diverse styles and position levels
  • Demonstrates ability to challenge and influence at all levels on the most complex issues and programs
  • Ability to provide support to Team Members to ensure accuracy and completeness of tasks.
  • Leverages knowledge and experience to consistently meet Stakeholders’ requirements, expectations, and needs
  • Thrives at operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
  • Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Engineering
  • Various technologies (e.g. SAP ERP, Maintenix, Aeroxchange, QuickBase database management, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, as well as various MRP systems
  • Economic/ financial analysis, Material management, and cross-functional team leadership
  • Leading small Team projects or some larger interdepartmental projects with some senior stakeholders
  • Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Engineering
  • Various technologies (e.g. SAP ERP, Maintenix, Aeroxchange, QuickBase database management, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, as well as various MRP systems

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEducationExperienceLicensing/Certification
  • Required: SIDA badge and meet all local airport requirements
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lifts aircraft parts up to 30 pounds on own, and up to 50 pounds with assistance during audits
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders to retrieve aircraft parts and information in various field location during audits
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
  • Day shift with the ability to work other shifts as needed with little to short notice in support of strategic activities or critical problem solving.
  • Travel typically 10% or less, but with flexibility as needed to support strategic activities or critical problem solving.

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $71,450 per year to $79,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
