How will you make an impact in this role?
Due to continued growth in our business, American Express recently ascended the ranks of the Federal Reserve’s bank categorization. As a Category III firm, American Express continues to evolve to meet these heightened requirements. The Capital Enterprise Management Office (CEMO) within Treasury at American Express (AXP) is responsible for overseeing the Company’s participation in the Federal Reserve’s Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR). The team leads the creation and submission of the Company’s annual Capital Plan and ensures the stress testing program remains well-designed, well-controlled, insightful, and thoughtfully tailored to regulatory expectations. The Strategy and Transformation team within CEMO leads the strategic and innovative projects which drive efficiencies, increase automation, improve our analytical capabilities, and change the way we do work.
As a member of CEMO, the Director will be responsible for leading our key capital stress testing related initiatives, as well as other process improvements. They will have a unique and exciting opportunity to identify innovative solutions for complex problems and lead them to fruition for both AXP and the American Express National Bank (AENB). In order to do this, the Director will work closely with global stakeholders including Treasury, Corporate Planning, Finance, and Risk.
- Analyze existing capital stress testing processes to identify areas of improvement and implement enhancements.
- Scan the external environment to identify best in class solutions and share recommendations with Senior Leadership.
- Design and implement high quality sustainable solutions while maintaining a strong control environment through effective change management.
- Develop new capabilities, including an automated solution for the creation of the Capital Plan, enhanced workflow management tools and analytical tools.
- Lead and develop a team that thinks outside of the box and challenges the status quo.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience
- Ability to develop, execute, and present solutions to complex problems
- Thought leadership and creative problem solving to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement
- Change leadership, including the ability to translate transformation plans into actions and results
- Relationship building, including ability to develop strong working relationships with business partners
- Ability and willingness to operate independently in a complex matrixed organization
- Strong relationship leadership with a track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and extensively coordinating with business partners, including senior leaders
- Ability to influence without authority at a senior-leader level
- People leadership, including developing, and managing a diverse team
- Strong ability to develop optimal strategy that is both effective and operationally feasible
- Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change
- Proven ability to partner and drive results with teams outside of your direct reporting line
- BS. Degree in Finance / Accounting or relevant field
- Experience with implementing automated solutions using TM1, Power BI, Tableau and/or Workiva preferred.
- Prior regulatory, compliance, and/or capital stress testing experience preferred but not required.
- Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
