Introduction:

The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university; Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.  

The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private-sector university-led trans-provincial Board (awarding body) in Pakistan established through the Ordinance of the Government of Pakistan. The Board offers high-quality examinations for Secondary School (grades 9th and 10th - SSC) and Higher Secondary School (grades 11th and 12th - HSSC/ FSC) qualifications for public and private schools across Pakistan. The Board also offers a Middle School Programme (MSP) for grades 6th–8th students and its registered schools engage a globally accepted approach, Project-Based Learning (PBL) to implement the MSP. PBL is considered as a foundation of the AKU-EB MSP, helping schools foster a sense of purpose and leadership in young learners.

At the heart of AKU-EB’s mission is to shift teaching and learning away from rote learning and move towards higher order thinking, preparing students for higher education and lifelong learning. The Board is evaluated internationally for implementing global best practices, making AKU-EB qualifications credible and recognized globally.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate (Communications) in the Examination Board.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager (Communications), Examination Board, you will be responsible to: 

• draft, edit, and adapt content for newsletters, reports, press releases, websites, and social media
• ensure consistency of tone, message, and branding across all platforms
• assist in developing communication plans and campaign materials
• design graphics, layouts, and infographics for digital and print use
• support video production and editing for events, campaigns, and storytelling features
• manage a library of visual and multimedia assets
• support the development of content calendars and digital campaigns
• create and adapt content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube
• monitor trends and suggest creative formats to increase engagement
• work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure effective communication support
• contribute ideas for campaigns, launches, and special initiatives
• assist in evaluating the effectiveness of communication outputs.

Requirements:

You Should Have:

• bachelor’s degree in communications, media studies, marketing, visual arts, or related field 
• minimum 2 years of experience in communications, content development, design, or digital media
• strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• proficiency in design and multimedia tools (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)
• familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication
• ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
• flexibility to travel and visit partner schools
• creative, detail-oriented, and proactive team player
• photography, video production, and basic animation skills
• experience in higher education, non-profit, or knowledge-based organizations
• understanding of digital analytics and performance measurement.
