We are looking for someone to lead the development, review, and implementation of statutory compliance documents, Safe Systems of Work, and compliance-related policies to ensure all hard services align with current legislation and best practice. The successful candidate will oversee compliance management activities including surveys, insurance inspections, testing, risk-based remedial works, statutory Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and accurate certification/record keeping. You will be responsible for conducting statutory audits and quality inspections of third-party service providers, ensuring contractor competence, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement in compliance standards. The role also involves offering technical guidance on small to medium projects for our inhouse maintenance providers, Building Maintenance officers and the projects team.

ABOUT THE TEAMYou will be a key member of the team working in our Estates and Facilities office at our City Campus and will be required to work in any of our other locations, including our accommodation blocks in Newcastle and Gateshead and at Coach Lane Campus. ABOUT YOU You will have demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, compliance obligations, planning regulations, regulatory standards, and building services legislation. Knowledge of CDM (Construction Design Management) Regulations and other construction related regulations/legislation, fire safety compliance, estates safety and fall arrest implications for planned works on commercial property installations is essential. You must be familiar with statutory compliance across key areas including asbestos, electrical, fire, gas, mechanical and water safety, pressure systems, lifting equipment, and lifts. You will have a track record in delivery of compliance within a regulatory building services environment. Experience in managing and reporting on contract performance is required, as is technical knowledge of compartmentation, fire doors, passive fire protection, fire stopping, fire dampers, fire-resistant shutters and glazing, service risers, and electrical switchgear cupboards. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel between sites is essential for this role.
