Overview
Salem State University is seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Counseling and Health team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student health and wellness while working in a supportive academic environment. The Nurse Practitioner assesses, diagnoses, and treats Salem State University students' within established primary care protocols; plans and presents health education programming to increase campus health promotion and wellness. This is an 11-month position.
Counseling and Health Services is a multidisciplinary office that includes confidential counseling, health, and prevention services to the university community of students. The health center staff function to foster interpersonal development and address actual and potential health issues that create barriers to student success. A wide spectrum of medical services are provided by health center staff. They include a focus on illness, injury, episodic and urgent care, reproductive health, immunizations, health promotion and prevention, outreach, and wellness. Health staff are committed to supporting an environment that is culturally inclusive, and recognizes diversity and personal development of our students, staff, faculty, and community partners. A commitment to evidence-based clinical care, public health, and quality improvement and assessment are essential to this role.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited school/college of nursing
- Licensure to practice in Massachusetts as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), including current DPH prescriptive authority and DEA licensure
- Experience working with an adolescent or young adult population
- Proof of current and active malpractice insurance
- Possess current certification in Basic Life Support for healthcare providers
- Possess or eligible to obtain insurance credentialing in order to be able to bill health insurance for services provided at Salem State University health services
- Familiarity with HIPPAA and FERPA privacy and confidentiality requirements and compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, including mentoring or managing student employees, interns, or support staff within a healthcare or educational environment
- Experience in health education or wellness programming, including the ability to design and implement outreach initiatives that promote preventative care and student well-being
- Program management support, including data tracking, grant-related activities, or oversight of health-related access improvement programs
- Proficiency in Spanish to enhance communication, cultural responsiveness, and accessibility of health services
- Understanding of and commitment to a reproductive justice framework, including the ability to provide inclusive, affirming care
Working Location
This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
