Job Description

Context

Beckers Group is looking for a self-reliant polymer or formulation chemist to join our Core Plate Varnish group (CPV). In this position you will develop new coating technologies for the continuously growing electrical-motor business. You will belong to a team of 3 people and will report to the CPV Technical Manager. Having a wide field of responsibilities, your manager will thus expect you to act as a leader on a project within the CPV topic. As such, you will be required to work independently with confidence and to be comfortable taking the lead on a project, interacting with key stakeholders both inside and outside of the company. Work will not be limited to a single project, and there will be an expectation that you will be comfortable collaborating with other members of the team. 

Your responsibilities and deliverables 

Your primary responsibility is to design and develop high performance, new generation coating technologies for our customers. You work with short-, medium- and long-term project from early development phase through upscaling and production line test. You are also responsible of the continuous optimisation of the current portfolio as well as the testing according to customer specifications.  

Main Tasks Are:

• Responsible for the development of new improved products, systems or applications using a variety of engineering methods to meet specifications and functional requirements 
• Fine-tuning and optimisation of current formulations 
• Evaluates, selects and applies a broad range of scientific techniques, processes, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications 
• Maintains contact with raw material suppliers 
• Tests whether the correct R&D methods are used, and the conclusions are founded correctly  

Qualifications

• Suitable university qualification in Chemistry with research experience from industry or academia 
• Experience from the paint or coating industry is a must, and a background in product development within the adhesive sector. 
• Result-oriented, Methodical, and organised  
• Strong communication skills and confidence to work with minimal supervision 
• Ability to cooperate within a small team 
• Flexible, agile and creative 
• You are fluent, both written and verbal in English
