Role Overview:
FMC is currently looking for Global Category Manager, responsible for managing FMC’s Biologicals Portfolio worldwide.
The Global Category Manager is a strategic leader who will drive the profitability of the biologicals portfolio by understanding the market, managing suppliers, and collaborating closely with various teams:
Technical, R&D, Supply chain & Manufacturing teams, as well as FMC’s Global Marketing team to help support the long-term strategy for growth.
Your role is based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland where you are required to work on-site for 3 days a week. You will report to the Global Category Leader for Active Ingredients & Intermediates.
Responsibilities:
- Document and maintain the supply & manufacturing landscape for the Biotechnology/Fermentation Industry
- In partnership with key stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, etc…), create and execute End-To-End supply chain network strategies that are intentionally designed to meet the overall business objectives. This will involve analysing the supply market trend through conducting thorough supply market research to identify potential suppliers and understand our competitor’s offerings and their supply networks and develop an actionable plan to close any potential gaps.
- Understand, model and conduct cost-analysis activities (Total Cost of Ownership) in partnership with finance and Technical to identify saving opportunities.
- Lead Contract negotiation ensuring the most beneficial commercial agreements with suppliers in line with the strategy.
- Develop and proactively manage supplier relationships and performance. Build strong relationship with the key suppliers.
- Develop continuous improvement process to ensure assumptions made during planning remain valid, if not, determine path forward for appropriate adjustment to ensure continued success.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 7 years’ work experience in the Biotechnology industry.
- Experience in the Biotechnology / fermentation industry and related supply/manufacturing landscape.
- Ability to develop and implement category strategies, strategic thinking.
Strong analytical skills.

- Strategic sourcing proficiency within complex global organizations.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, a proven influencer.
- Demonstrated experience managing senior internal stakeholders and senior external supply partners.
