PROCUREMENT BUYER

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Review and process purchase requisitions for technical goods and services.
• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical capability, quality, pricing, and reliability.
• Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with suppliers.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (P.O.s) and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to understand technical requirements.
• Validate supplier proposals against technical specifications and standards.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and manage claims related to quality or delivery.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies.
• Support cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Conduct market research and stay updated on new technologies and suppliers relevant to the business.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
• Proven experience in procurement, preferably as a Technical Buyer or similar role.
• Familiarity with sourcing technical or industrial products.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPM) are an advantage. 

Skills

• Strong technical understanding of engineering materials, machinery, equipment, or chemicals (depending on industry).
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of procurement best practices and compliance requirements.
