Senior Staff Software Engineer, Global Network Edge

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
• Experience in System Architecture, Distributed Systems, Network Architecture, Software Development and Software-Defined Networking.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience in Organizational Effectiveness and Test Coverage.

The Global Network Edge (GNE) team is responsible for delivering technology solutions for the Edge layer of the network. As a senior lead in this team, you will be responsible for the strategy of evolving the networking Edge infrastructure, to ensure that we can continue to evolve our systems effectively and that we can introduce new products efficiently. Beside system and software design, this includes working closely with other Edge teams and partner leads to define plans and processes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
• Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
• Accelerate the adoption of "Wan Building blocks" in edge networking and drive a modular, sustainable validation framework.
• Evolve and modernize the internal architecture of Edge networking to align with Google and other hybrid SDN systems.
• Introduce common building blocks in the Edge control plane and management plane system to leverage existing investment and increase developer efficiency and velocity.
