The Applied Research and Strategy (AREAS) team is dedicated to uncovering new areas of opportunity and growth for Knowledge and Information (K and I), leveraging data and analysis to surface actionable insights and fuel intelligent decision-making. We drive insights for K and I leaders across external landscape, growth and our biggest long term bets. We develop cross-K and I data science strategies and approaches, create cross-product metrics and ensure data quality and push the envelop on new methodologies and tools to enable new and deeper insights.
You will lead a team of experienced data scientists to develop powerful new insights, land those insights with Search Leads and effectively influence the future direction of Search. Your team will develop new insights into Google's place in the external landscape, changes in user behavior and other questions that shape the Search product strategy. You will partner with cross-functional partners in PM, Engineering, User Experience Researcher (UXR), Finance and others to connect those insights to concrete product strategies and ultimately to reach decisions from Search Leads.Google is an engineering company at heart. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Direct projects that combine analytical and organizational complexity towards clear, sound, and actionable decisions.
- Own projects covering problem definition, metrics development, data extraction and manipulation, visualization, creation, and implementation of analytical/statistical models, and presentation to stakeholders.
- Address ambiguous or new problems by using the capabilities of existing systems and collaborate to turn broad problems into work for the team.
- Oversee the integration of cross-functional and cross-organizational project/process timelines, drive improvements and recommendations, and define operational goals and objectives.
- Provide direction and accomplish results through leading/impacting the contributions of others.
