About The Position

Under general supervision of the Director, Impact & Strategic Innovation, the Youth Services Coordinator consults with case managers and YWCA team members regarding the needs of the children and youth within the agency programming.  

Essential Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:   

Administration

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and youth enrolled in programs to recommend services and referrals that support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being 
  • Provide support to staff by offering feedback on children and youth needs, attending case management meetings, sharing information on mental health resources, and assisting in obtaining youth's records 
  • Participate in staff meetings, client case reviews, and assigned in-service trainings 
  • Collaborate with case managers, when appropriate, to refer children and youth for psychological evaluations, psychiatric assessments, counseling, mental health skill-building, in-home services, parenting programs, and other supportive interventions 
  • Deliver crisis intervention services to children, youth and their families as needed 
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community service providers to ensure access to appropriate resources and referrals 

Community Collaboration

  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts and support the healthy development of the youth 
  • Work closely with YWCA SHR colleagues to identify and address the ongoing needs of families, with the goal of maintaining and increasing program participation 
  • Partner with community agencies, organizations, and local businesses to expand and enrich services available to children, youth, and their families 
  • Tracks outreach engagement activities using both qualitative and quantitative reporting methods 

Coordinating Programs

  • Manage and oversee youth services programs, ensuring they effectively meet the needs of the community 
  • Coordinate and implement enrichment activities that promote the development and well-being of children and youth participating in the program 
  • Increase awareness and visibility of children and youth services programs through outreach and community engagement 

Program Development

  • Collaborate with staff to design, develop, and implement new programs and initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of children, youth and families 
  • Lead the development and coordination of an initiative to combat gender-based violence among children and youth by equipping young leaders with the platforms, networks, and organizational support needed to drive change 
  • Partner with the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator to recruit, train, and retain volunteers to support the successful delivery of children and youth programs 

Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client case records using electronic case management systems and any required data or grant management software, in compliance with agency policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all YWCA SHR policies and procedures 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or related human services field; Master’s degree preferred 
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with children and youth within an underserved population required 
  • Two (2) years of experience working in the human services field preferred 
  • Experience working with clients in crisis, mental health or related services strongly preferred 

Other Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age 
  • Must complete the training programs of YWCA SHR 
  • Must complete a successful background check

  • Must have an excellent driving record and have a valid driver's license; certificate of insurance from an insurance carrier licensed in the State of Virginia 
  • Travel is required and access to reliable transportation is essential

WORKING CONDITIONS: Monday through Friday, 9:00a-5:00pm. Some evening and weekend hours required. Willingness to work and travel alone. Travel is required and access to reliable transportation is essential.

COMPENSATION: This position offers a hiring range of $42,000-$47,000 that is based on experience and a full benefits packet to include health, vision, and dental insurance, 17 paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement and other benefits.
