Job Summary and key responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior/Associates will play a key role in managing projects with or without the assistance of Directors. They will act as Project Lead which will involve understanding client brief and timescales, leading in the production of design ideas with Directorial guidance and discussion if necessary and running the project successfully through its lifespan.
- On a day-to-day basis for a project, they will be the point of contact for the client and consultants. This will involve taking a pro-active role in project deliverables, providing direction to junior staff on content and managing content, liaison with internal project team, consultants and clients to complete required tasks and meet timescale.
- They will lead on ensuring quality control on various deliverables of Portfolio projects and that all work done is to a professional standard to meet client brief and expectations. They will pay attention to detail and accuracy and where unclear show the initiative to undertake research and find commercial and innovative design solutions in terms of style, technical content, changing regulations and/or detail; or ask for guidance from Directors/Head on specialist skills.
- They will lead on the production and assembling of drawings and document pack for a variety of projects, including meeting tight deadlines and application submission dates, working collaboratively and communicating effectively with the Director and project team
- They will take responsibility of managing and completing self-workload and those of junior members in line with the resourcing plan and project programme which may include allocating work to junior staff on a day-to-day basis.
- They will be aware of implications of time on cost and ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and budget. They will produce fee proposals when required for projects, monitor WIP and project spend.
- They will be responsible for managing multiple projects for client account/s and lead on generating income for Portfolio through repeat instructions and referrals from clients.
- They will take initiative on arranging design critiques for projects and ensure this is carried out on a timely basis.
- They will also perform administrative tasks required for the effective running of the project in line with the Boyer Design Quality Management Manual
- They will assist Director in appraisals of junior staff in Portfolio and may have direct line management responsibilities.
What Are We Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Urban Design or similar discipline
- Completion of RIBA Part 2 & 3 (for UK based qualification) and/or P.G Cert / Masters Degree in Urban Design (for urban design role)
- Ideally ARB registered (UK qualification) for architecture role or experience of working with developers
- A minimum of eight years post qualification experience of working in a similar practice/s in the UK is essential with project experience similar to appointed Portfolio in relation to scale, location, context, and client product
- Demonstrable knowledge of architectural history
- Demonstrate experience of job running similar projects and line managing junior staff
- Must demonstrate experience of working with CAD software packages, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, 3D modelling software
- Lead on making presentations to staff within team on projects and for internal CPD
- Membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects or Urban Design Group is desirable
