Senior Accountant Description:

Tiffin University is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Business Office team. This position plays a key role in managing financial reporting, general ledger operations, payroll accounting, and audit support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative—helping ensure financial accuracy and compliance while supporting the university’s mission.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Manage general ledger functions and month-end close processes.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and investment reconciliations.
  • Support external audit preparation and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Reconcile bank, balance sheet, and grant accounts.
  • Maintain accurate fiscal records and assist with tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with departments across campus to ensure proper documentation and reporting.

Requirements

Senior Accountant Requirements:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • A master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the related field.

Other:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively in a team environment.
