Detroit Defense is seeking a Project Manager in our Troy, MI facility to manage the execution of projects associated with DoD Robotics, Logistics, and other areas.
The Project Manager will manage teams of technical professionals. This Project Manager will frequently engage with executive level customer leadership in strategic briefings, planning and negotiations. This Project Manager will have ultimate responsibility for customer satisfaction and project deliverables quality. This Project Manager will work closely with our customers to define project requirements. Additional responsibilities include the development of detailed project estimates and plans for execution; coordination of staff assignments; monitoring and reporting status to customers and internal management. This position will require travel to customer sites.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Ensure Program Management Best Practices are utilized in managing the team’s efforts.
- Assist in preparation of responses to customer opportunities, including white papers, proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates and responses to customer requests for information.
- Program Startup activities – Establishing the Performance Measurement Baseline and ensuring the Control Accounts are in alignment with the Statement of Work and developing the performance baseline.
- Provide leadership to develop a readiness plan that meets customer requirements and expectations to ensure staff is ready and certified to execute operations.
- Ensure that program requirements, purposes, objectives, and expectations are communicated and flowed down to the internal team and subcontractors.
- Manage scope, budget, schedule, and EVMS reporting; function as an Account Manager as needed and provide monthly updates.
- Manage project performance, identify resource needs, elevate concerns and issues where appropriate to leaders.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including status reports, risk registers, and technical requirement specs.
- Ensure audit ready files are maintained for Control Accounts to facilitate discussions with Government and internal audit teams.
- Identify cost and schedule impacts to risk and opportunities and implement approved mitigation plans.
- Communicate program status to upper management and stakeholders via Program Management Reviews and other formal and informal methods.
- Work unplanned program issues to a best solution, including development of plans-forward, escalation and increased resources, as required.
- Recognize, develop, and work to assist in winning potential follow-on work, increased scope, and additional programs within the appropriate program.
- Act as the main interface with the Customer for all program operations readiness related subjects.
- Routinely conducts in-person meetings with Customers to discuss program objectives, resource allocation, and future opportunities.
- Identifies and coordinates with key level horizontal and vertical stakeholders between program major activities, teams, suppliers, partners and customers.
- Provide sound leadership and team building to motivate, influence, and effectively apply the program staff.
- Interacts appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Coordinate inputs from support organizations including engineering, contracts, finance, pricing, and others as needed.
- Develop and practice good internal/external communication systems.
- Resolve conflicts, demands, and priorities on assigned programs.
- Occasionally travel to domestic or international customer sites (15%)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University
- Minimum 5-years' experience in business, finance, sourcing, cross-functional teaming, and/or project management
- PMP and/or PMI-ACP Certification (Highly Recommended)
- Must be able to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance, if required
