Clinical Data and Annotation Specialist
Ambu A/S is currently looking for a Clinical Data and Annotation Specialist to be based in Augsburg, Germany.
In Ambu we develop single-use endoscope solutions and digital space is a fast-growing part of the business. The potential improvements that can be achieved with AI solutions are extraordinary. At the heart of these AI applications lies the healthcare data and this is where you come in. We need your help to ensure the highest quality of data and annotations for our deep learning models and your help to prove their performance in the clinic.
In this position you will join Ambu’s Algorithms team, a team of data specialists and deep learning engineers, with the common goal of bringing the best possible digital solutions to the doctors. The Algorithms team is currently based entirely at the Ambu headquarter in Ballerup, Denmark, but it is the company strategy to build up and expand our team in Augsburg, Germany. We believe it to be vital that you get integrated into the team quickly, therefore we expect you to start out your journey in Ambu, by spending 3 weeks at the headquarter in Denmark – getting introduced to the company, the work and the team. In addition, we expect that you travel at least 4 times to Denmark during the first year.
Key responsibilities as Clinical Data and Annotation Specialist
Your work will be organised in an AI project team, where you in close collaboration with another Data Specialist will be responsible for securing the right data for AI development. The focus will be on the clinical and data related tasks regarding user interaction, workflow understanding, data collection and annotation, clinical trials, implementation in products, and clinical documentation.
You Will Primarily...
- Understand clinical workflows, identify user needs and evaluate opportunities for AI solutions to improve clinical workflow.
- Design, establish and drive clinical data collection studies,
- Identify, define and communicate data and label annotation needs/requirements
- Ensure data quality, control, and compliance
- Support clinical documentation package, including clinical risk related documentation
- Act as a key liaison between clinical stakeholders and the AI team
Experienced In Data Acquisition and Data Management
We are looking for an experienced candidate with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with clinical data collection studies. We imagine you may hold a Master of Biomedical Engineering or a similar field. Ideally, you have experience working with data annotation and anonymization. It is essential that you have a keen interest in AI and a drive for making clinically meaningful products.
You bring a deep understanding of both clinical workflows and technical AI development and thrive in a role where you juggle diverse responsibilities in close collaboration with other specialists. You are comfortable acting as a connector between clinical stakeholders and technical teams and have the ability to reflect and make independent decisions that pave the way for strategic and robust data collection for AI development.
While you won’t be developing AI models yourself, your role is critical in scoping, planning, and enabling the data foundation that makes high-quality AI solutions possible.
Desirable skills for this position are:
- Knowledge of quality assurance in medtech
- Proven ability to scope and evaluate AI solutions in clinical settings
- Experience working with medical personnel and clinical environments
- Experience in designing, running, and documenting clinical studies
- Experience in data management, annotation and anonymization
- General programming skillset – as a minimum in Python
- General knowledge of deep learning theory and applications
As a person, you are highly motivated, self-driven, structured and with a strong sense of detail. Your strong time management and project planning skills enable you to navigate complex workflows with confidence
It is essential that you have excellent communication and English skills, both written and oral.
