Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic Mainframe Tech Lead to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mainframe technologies, including DB2 and JCL, and will be proficient in both English and French. In this role, you will lead development teams with the goal of maintaining and optimizing mainframe applications to meet business requirements and improve operational efficiency. Leadership experience is mandatory, as you will be responsible for coordinating the work of your team and ensuring collaboration and productivity. Experience in the banking sector is a valuable asset that will enhance your contribution to our team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
- Gather and analyze user requirements, translating them into clear technical specifications and actionable tasks for the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and project managers, to design and implement system enhancements that align with business goals.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of mainframe applications and databases to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Provide guidance and support to team members in resolving technical issues related to mainframe systems.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for applications, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Conduct code reviews and promote adherence to best coding practices and standards within the development team.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in mainframe technologies.
- Act as a point of contact for technical inquiries from end-users, providing assistance and training as required.
- Continuously evaluate and implement the latest technologies and industry best practices in mainframe development to improve efficiency and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in mainframe development, specifically with COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead in a mainframe environment is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally for short periods, if necessary.
- Proficient in English with a minimum B2 level (mandatory).
- Proficient in French with a minimum B2 level (mandatory).
- Flexibility to work in the office at least 2 days per week.
