Job Description
The Role
As a Quality Analyst within our Business Intelligence team, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of our data warehouse and reporting solutions. You will work closely with BI developers, QA Lead, and business stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality BI products.
Who you will work with
You will be part of a collaborative BI and QA team, working alongside BI Developers, Product Owner, Scrum Master, QA Manager and business stakeholders.
What you will be responsible for
Operational Responsibilities
- Collaborate with PO and the team to understand BI requirements and translate them into effective test cases and scenarios.
- Identify and report data quality and reporting issues, helping to minimise risks during production rollouts.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Apply your knowledge of data warehousing and reporting tools to support the team’s QA activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes within the BI team.

- QA Culture: Adhere and improve upon the Values, Mission, Principles, and the QA Framework.
What you will do
- Develop and execute comprehensive test cases, including SQL queries, for BI solutions covering ETL processes, data validation, Power BI dashboards, and report testing.
- Participate actively in QA activities throughout BI project lifecycles, ensuring all deliverables adhere to defined quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with the QA team, fostering effective communication and teamwork to achieve common quality objectives.
- Manage test cases and ensure timely logging, updating, and tracking of defects using the designated test management tools.
- Analyse business and technical requirements from a testing perspective, identifying potential gaps and areas of risk.
- Create detailed test plans and write clear, reusable test scripts tailored to BI and data warehouse scenarios.
- Work collaboratively with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to proactively identify and address risk areas within BI project
- Continuously learn and understand the existing functionality of BI applications, providing constructive feedback for enhancements.
- Conduct in-depth regression testing to ensure all components and integrations within the BI ecosystem function as expected after changes or updates.
Qualifications
Your Experience
- Experience in QA for BI/Data Warehouse projects, including ETL and report testing.
- Experience in writing complex SQL queries
- Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI preferred) and data platforms (such as SQL Server).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Exposure to test automation tools and scripting for BI testing is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to mimic end user experiences accurately.
- Must have experience on 'modern' test practices and techniques.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Experience using Rally and Azure Test Plan is desirable. But experience in test and defect management systems is acceptable
