The Avionics Technician (E-2D) AM II installs, inspects, tests, adjusts, or repairs avionics equipment, such as radar, communications, navigation, and missile control systems in assigned aircraft. Performs tasks independently with little or no supervision.
- Performs operational checks, bench checks, troubleshoots, and isolates malfunctions in complex aircraft avionics equipment i.e. AN/APY-9 Radar system, various radios UHF/VHF, Intercommunication System (ICS), radar altimeter and IFF and Link 16 systems.
- Uses complex test equipment such as continuous wave and pulse generators, time domain reflectometers, multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters and deviation meters, and specialized test equipment to perform operational checks.
- Repairs or replaces components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
- Performs calibration, repair and replacement of system components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
- Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
- Shall have an in-depth working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2 and NAVINST 3710.1 series and all applicable technical publications which apply to their applicable T/M/S specific aircraft.
- Must be able to prioritize workloads, maintain schedules, and perform other maintenance standards on assigned projects.
- Shall have authority to direct, mentor, instruct and assist lower classification level employees in proper work methods and performance of their job duties.
- Shall be able to utilize the OOMA NALCOMIS system in documenting aircraft maintenance actions.
- Must obtain all certifications required to perform the job requirements.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced electronic principles and circuit analysis. Ability to trace signal flow, understand interrelationships of circuits, interpret waveforms and voltages.
- Working knowledge of aircraft communications/navigation and instrument systems.
- Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and charts of assigned systems.
- Excellent soldering and harness/wiring skills, PC board, surface mount and crimping experience.
- Working knowledge of all standard test equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Working knowledge of technical orders and maintenance forms.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driver's license. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Experience And Education:
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Shall have minimum of five years US Navy/USMC/USCG O-Level CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) aircraft maintenance support experience.
- Shall have minimum 3 years T/M/S aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.
- Aviation Ordnance candidates experience shall be minimum five years O-Level experience.
- Shall have T/M/S aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain, with the last two years.
- Experience as T/M/S CDI or CDQAR is required
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $51.46 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
