Assists in keeping Nature’s Path on the leading edge of new product development by:
- Participate in all product development projects from concept to market launch.
- Research new and current raw materials and applications.
- Develop product prototypes for presentation to management and marketing.
- Organize and participate in project presentations to brand management.
- Supports plant trials and new product launches.
- Designs, plans, and executes experiments.
- Interprets experimental results and implements next steps.
- Keeps informed on current developments in the food industry, new technologies, and innovative ingredients.
- Manages projects, ensuring timely completion of project objectives in a fast-paced environment.
Ensures consistent operational standards for quality, cost, lean manufacturing, food safety and sustainability by:
- Improves existing products by optimizing product attributes (cost, nutritional profiles, and ingredient statements)
- Assists in cost containment and quality standards of ingredients by researching vendors and options.
- Creates new product run documentation and costing, including processing parameters, ingredient specifications, cost, nutritional information, and disposition of final product.
- Participates in ongoing product shelf-life testing of all new and revised products.
- Facilitates the submissions for third party lab testing as per protocol.
- Enters and tracks nutritional information using Genesis to assure accuracy of nutritional facts for new and existing products.
- Ensures ongoing compliance with current packaging requirements and regulatory updates.
Preferred Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, or related degree, with relevant food science experience.
- 2 to 4 years of R&D experience – (product development and commercialization, quality, processing and/or manufacturing).
- Baking, and/or snack manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Notes:
- This role is 4 days in the Lab (and one day working from home) and based in Richmond, BC.
- Depending on experience, this opportunity will pay between $70,000 - $75,000 with a 10% bonus + amazing benefits.
