This role is deeply hands-on: building line plans, managing pricing and margin targets, tracking deliveries, and optimizing performance across channels.
The Merchandising Manager ensures the seamless connection between Design, Production, Retail, E-Commerce, and Operations, balancing creativity with precision and profitability.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Partner with Design to translate seasonal direction into actionable line plans.
- Own and maintain seasonal line sheets, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Manage buy plans, PO tracking, and coordination across production and logistics.
- Analyze performance at style, color, and category level to inform replenishment and future strategy.
- Support CRO with sales forecasts, margin recaps, and in-season readouts.
- Ensure data integrity across systems — pricing, cost, delivery, and allocation.
- Lead weekly reporting on sales, margin, and inventory performance.
- Partner with Retail and E-Com teams on product launches and seasonal storytelling.
- Identify opportunities for product flow optimization and margin improvement.
- Maintain competitive market awareness — trends, pricing, and brand adjacencies.
Hard Skills
- Strong command of Excel/Google Sheets, pivot tables, and reporting dashboards.
- Skilled in assortment planning, pricing, and margin analysis.
- Experience with PLM systems, OTB tracking, and retail analytics platforms.
- High level of financial literacy; able to reconcile buys against sales and inventory.
- Proficiency in calendar management and cross-functional coordination.
- Deep understanding of retail math and business KPIs.
- Knowledge of product costing and production timelines.
Soft Skills
- Proactive and detail-obsessed with a bias for action.
- Excellent communicator — able to connect creative, production, and finance languages.
- Collaborative and unpretentious; thrives in a fast-moving creative environment.
- Balances left-brain logic and right-brain intuition.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solver who anticipates issues and proposes clear solutions.
- Genuine passion for product and culture — understands the consumer perspective.
Qualifications
- 6-8+ years of experience in merchandising or buying, ideally within contemporary or streetwear.
- Track record of supporting end-to-end merchandising cycles.
- Experience in both DTC and wholesale environments preferred.
- Strong familiarity with NYC and global retail landscapes.
